Title: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: Pinocchio on January 12, 2013, 11:16:13 AM The days are getting longer, the buffalo and crab grasses are starting to emerge on my lawn, and the hot weather will be here before you can say "global warming is a ...(insert preferred term of endearment here)." Hey, it's Springtime in Texas, dammit! Time to pull the covers off and check your fluids! [evil]

Now get the hell outta my garage and go post your own picture! [laugh] Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: caffeinejunkee on January 12, 2013, 12:04:41 PM Just checked clutch plates...but no photos. I'll take some changing the rear sprocket this week.

Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: muskrat on January 12, 2013, 02:04:25 PM My garage always looks like that. :P
No maintenance to do since I haven't ridden but once in three months but now that the Doc has "officially" stated I can ride it's more miles to come. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: Pinocchio on January 12, 2013, 02:50:31 PM I didn't really have any maintenance to do since I changed the oil before putting her up for the winter. The brake and clutch fluid still looks straw-colored all around - that Motul Racing 600 is very hydrophilic, so either Ducati is making air tight reservoir caps these days, or the maybe the drought has been good for something.
Just got the Mutley's SpeedyMoto-modded centerstand back on the bike - a new replacement for the one that was stolen off my front porch - F@#$%^&! The stuff is what I would term semi-close approximations of 999 bodywork. Finally gave up at 3... it was completely ruining my day. But rest assured, tools were flailing and swearwords were bouncing of the garage walls like bullets :D Yep. Big fun, #$%*ing motorcycles. (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8517/8381615739_b5853a6423.jpg) I had to fire up the heater for a rear sprocket change/cush drive inspection. Part came from CA Cycleworks with routine sticker and candy (M&M's this time): (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8501/8381617189_e8ae1cb92a.jpg) New sprocket: (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8071/8381620177_65c60aabf0.jpg) Dampers, drive pins, and bearings all looked good: (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8218/8381618597_a28921d687.jpg) Installed on wheel: (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8368/8382705132_552dd32d41.jpg) ...and DONE: (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8220/8382706194_c88e27cd71.jpg) Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: TresGatos on January 14, 2013, 09:48:39 PM No pics from me, but I tried using Goo Gone on my wheels and it worked, but I still refuse to clean a chain ;D
I rode up to the Tyler Harley/Triumph shop to look around and get some chain wax. The few Triumphs are hidden in the back and all the gear is chap related :P Still finding more good local roads here and Friday was a blast. [Dolph] Great choice on the Streetfighter Stan! [thumbsup] Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: LYD on January 17, 2013, 04:34:54 PM ok this has been a project, but I am finally done!
my gas tank was leaking and I didnt want to weld it up so I went with the sealer route, but it looks like I cleaned it ( I did many times ) so here are the pics. before #1 (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/before1_zps2abe2e18.jpg) before #2 (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/before2_zps9bc3c7d5.jpg) before # 3 (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/before3_zps3bca7f00.jpg) the cure (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/tanksealer_zps05715d76.jpg) after # 1 (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/after1_zps2496ee70.jpg) after # 2 (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/after2_zps5db98d64.jpg) after # 3 (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x60/alamin115/tank%20make%20over/after3_zpsd1244f4b.jpg) well there is the 1st of spring cleaning pics. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: Cher on January 18, 2013, 09:38:31 AM Whoa! That's impressive [thumbsup] My replacement bodywork for the 999 is close to being done but what a PITA. Dremmel tool, two-stage epoxy, plastic welder, assorted shims and fasteners from Elliot's and we're almost there [bang] Pictures this weekend. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on February 22, 2013, 07:50:25 AM Over the last 3 days, I managed to get new rubber put on the 749
(http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g374/omfg_nick/tires749_zps8090b1fd.jpg) new timing belts (http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g374/omfg_nick/belts_zpse0c6f26d.jpg) and did an oil change for both bikes. The 1100evo is a pain becuase you have to remove the can and the mid-pipe to get to the tubed filter. I finished the oil change and put the mid-pipe back on and ran it around town just for shits and giggles without the can on the end (thing weighs like 25 pounds) and sweet jesus it was painfully loud. I'm pretty sure anyone within a 2 mile radius heard me. Then got back and put the can back on. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: TresGatos on February 22, 2013, 08:34:08 PM "Painfully loud" [thumbsup]
Any comments LYD? ;D What brand of rear rubber? Looks good of course, its new. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on February 23, 2013, 02:42:29 PM Yea it was pretty obnoxious.
Bridgestone bt-003's. I was previously using bt-016's but was to the point where they were at max capacity. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on March 13, 2013, 05:28:20 PM Been trying to find something to occupy my time lately but doing something productive so I decided to finish out my garage. [beer] That pic came very close to motivating me off my butt and sorting out our garage situation but then I came to my senses and will continue to admire your handy work from the comfort of my sofa. Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: muskrat on March 14, 2013, 06:53:18 AM looks great now lets do the floors ASAP. You can buy the linoleum tiles cheap, some armstrong adhesive and go to town for less than $300 bucks and in any color combo you want. No need to spend thousands on etching, paint and so on. My floor's been done for 9 years with NO problems.
Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on March 14, 2013, 03:22:39 PM Epoxy-coat has their kit in the sub-$500 range that I've really been wanting to do. But I'm not sure I'm in too much of a hurry to do anything to the floors.

Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: RichD on March 14, 2013, 07:36:13 PM The only problem with epoxy coating a floor is you REALLY need to acid etch it first.
EVERYTHING has to be out and away from the garage to do it without damaging your stuff. I pressure washed the floor, acid etched it with straight muraic acid, then pressure washed it again, let it dry for a week in August, THEN coated it. No problems with hot-stick, peeling, anything. It's bullet proof. I've seen pretty "first results" turn into an ugly disaster after a few months if it isn't done right. I bought enough stuff to do the 3-car garage in my first house but I could never get the garage empty for a week... So I did the second house with the stuff I bought intended for the first and coated it before I even moved in. IMHO that's the only way, unless you can store your stuff in the house for a week while you do it. (I can't -I've got too much crap) Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: muskrat on March 14, 2013, 08:14:23 PM Epoxy-coat has their kit in the sub-$500 range that I've really been wanting to do. But I'm not sure I'm in too much of a hurry to do anything to the floors. way too much work IMO, I did mine for $280 buckaroos. But all you ever do is clean your bikes in your garage... you bring the real work to ours... [cheeky] because Stan can never say no.....you on the other hand. :-XTitle: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on March 15, 2013, 06:30:39 AM The original hope was to do it before we moved in as it would be the most convenient time. But it fell though and other things came first.
Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on March 15, 2013, 06:31:21 AM Not to mention I would have to get one of those giant floor grinders because the floor itself is not perfectly smooth. So that's always a bummer.
Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: muskrat on March 15, 2013, 11:33:24 AM Unless you have 6 inch bumps you don't need a grinder, I didn't use one. With epoxy that shit will show easily.
Title: Re: Post your Spring cleaning photos Post by: nickshelby500kr on March 15, 2013, 06:10:40 PM Unless you have 6 inch bumps you don't need a grinder, I didn't use one.
