Title: Modifying my M900Sie (advice appreciated) Post by: AmoK on January 13, 2013, 12:18:30 PM So, I picked up my first Monster several moths back. After going through forums and monster pics, I thought that I too want to do something to make it stand out of the crowd, just to make it little more personal.
So I will be adding the bar end mirrors, new blinkers and bellypan, I think it will look quite neat. I would like to change the beertray, but I don't want to chop the tail. Also changing to clipons is a possibility. So if anyone has some extra parts laying around, give me a PM but please note that I live in Finland, I wouldn't want to pay more for the shipping than the parts (unless they're really cheap ). I'm Still looking for good price clipons, top triple to go with the clipons, beertray replacement, possibly the red fenders and side fairings... Other things I will be adding to the bike are open clutch cover and possibly "open" belt covers (planning to do this mod myself out of original set of covers and add some wire mesh to it or Plexiglas) So the first question does anyone have any experience making this kind of belt cover mod? Should it be only see through with Plexiglas or can it be open with the wire mesh? (I know people use fully open covers, but still I fell little nervous) Other question is about the clutch cover, how difficult is it to paint on top of anodized aluminium? Does the paint stick? I will have to paint or have the cover painted to right color (once I decide what it is =) The last question is purely opinions. Red is the fastest color, but how much is too much? I got the S version, so there is original CF front fender and side fairings, but back mudguard is black. It might be possible to get new plastic fenders and fairings in red, but would it be little backwards? I don't know. I put a picture that I did with my mad photoshop skilz, give me a number you like the best and/or comments! They will be highly appreciated! You should really mod it to your taste. Otherwise you will get a variety of different opinions here. Everyone has different taste. Title: Re: Modifying my M900Sie (advice appreciated) Post by: Twizted on January 13, 2013, 02:08:44 PM My advice would be to save up your pennies and buy the stuff you want from a sponsor like Monsterparts and get it all at once so you are only paying postage once.
And with Ducatis, you can never have enough red [thumbsup] Title: Re: Modifying my M900Sie (advice appreciated) Post by: dlearl476 on January 13, 2013, 07:14:09 PM Wouldn't go to red My 900 http://supertjeduc.zenfolio.com/p530212002/slideshow (http://supertjeduc.zenfolio.com/p530212002/slideshow) Maybe you get some idea's Nice, my friend. Good to see the Galssetti in its old home. [thumbsup] Have to admit though, not a big fan of the Zards. IMO the angle is all wrong. And what's up with that remote reservoir??? You need to get a shorter hose and the bracket. IIRC, European bikes that came with Ohlins also had them. If you want one and can't get it over there, let me know and I'll order one and send it to you. Wish I had a part number, but it seems all the fiches only go back to 2001. Although yellow might be a different story. And I'd caution you against doing the hugger. I did mine and it was just too much color. (See the pic above) I'm looking for a CF one now. Im also thinking the rear hugger might be a little too much in red. I'm still looking for nice and good price beertray replacement, one chance is that I will try to make one of my own from fiberglass. Im also little between the two different bellypans avaible from Ricambi Weiss, one is in the picture the other is little longer... Does anyone have any experiences on these? http://ricambiweiss.almalki.de/index.php?cat=c10_DUCATI.html&XTCsid=3cfe75c1ce0ed68eeaaf4761718b2caf (http://ricambiweiss.almalki.de/index.php?cat=c10_DUCATI.html&XTCsid=3cfe75c1ce0ed68eeaaf4761718b2caf) I will keep you posted when I get something done, and all comments are still very welcome!
