Title: Re: powder coating wheels Post by: Pinocchio on January 19, 2013, 09:23:21 PM I used Quality Powder Coating at 1838 Forms Drive in Carrollton a couple of times. Their work was consistently good. Two wheels were under $200. They do reasonably-priced ceramic coating for exhausts, too.

Title: Re: powder coating wheels Post by: TresGatos on January 20, 2013, 08:08:37 AM This does not add much weight? I guess not.
Title: Re: powder coating wheels Post by: Pinocchio on January 20, 2013, 09:30:15 AM I wouldn't think it would add a significant amount to the overall weight. With my old cast alloy rims I noticed an increase finish durability and ease of repair of damage from gravel and other debris (such as loose brake calipers dragging on the rim [evil]).
I think the Hypers have have forged alloys since inception - at least they do now. If I had forged alloys on the Mutley, I would rather have them polished and clear-coated than powder-coated or painted. From the standpoint of repairability, though, cast alloy is probably a better choice for the pothole-spelunking we do around Dallas these days. Title: Re: powder coating wheels Post by: Hershell on January 20, 2013, 12:12:34 PM A Ballistic battery would make up for any weight gains. I picked up an 848 evo matte last week and I want to get the wheels and / or frame PC'ed. As bad as I hate the champagne / gold wheels on the 1100s I'm going to keep them.

Quality is just located closer to me - about 5 minutes away.
Title: Re: powder coating wheels Post by: Hershell on January 20, 2013, 09:15:14 PM Thanks I will give them a call tomorrow. I fond a matte red that I like. I think I'm going to do the wheels that color.

Not the cheapest, but fast turnaround too.
