They are beautiful, but drive like tanks. :D
I can do tanks! [laugh] I'm kind of a rusty old tank myself!
On second thought I don't think the "lake pipes" were offered until later in the 60's. But still... they'd look cool as hell on a split window '63 vette. [thumbsup] Hubba hubba!! [bow_down]

Oh yeah... that's what I'm talking about!! ;)
My older brother had not only a '69 Z-28 (that I used to sneak out when he was stationed in Korea at a SAC base during Nam... great high school shit!! [laugh]) but later in life he had a '69 Vette. Just a basic rag top 350ci Vette but it was that awesome Chevy green. Funny... it belonged to a neighbor and after all those years my bro sold it back to him. Lucky guy! [bow_down]
More goodness. [popcorn]

68-69 Zaps were the shit. [evil]
My favorite day (in a weird way ;D) was sneaking the Z-28 out one day when the parents were gone... obviously. I was on a steep road and cop pulled up behind me. Oh yeah... I freaked out. I was 15 and had no semblance of a driving license. And sure as shit I stalled the Z-28 right in front of the officer when the light turned green.
I probably went nuclear and fired it back up, put it in first and hung a hard right. Thank God the officer didn't follow me! I couldn't get that hot rod Chevy back home soon enough. Shit... I am still laughing about it decades later! [laugh] [laugh]
But being the dumb shit teenager it still didn't stop me from sneaking out the Z again... and again! Awesome times! [laugh] [bacon]
My favorite is the '65 in blue/white. Ran across one while riding last summer. Simply beautiful.

Second choice is the fastwin's 63. Black/red interior. But really, any C2 will do. Sooooo beautiful. [drool]

Me too.
They've been "meh" to me for so long, but they nailed the new one IMO. I'm not a GM guy, but I'd have one in the stable if I could.
I'm torn. Just looks like there's too much going on with the vents everywhere...

I think this is the higher end one, not the stock model, so I would expect less vents on that
[drool]
I really like the design. I'm going to have to see one in person to get past the black (not paint matched) A-pillars though.
IMO: 'Vette's haven't had the 'look' in a -L-O-N-G- time...
You know the look: It's when anyone who looks at it just goes, "Damn!" *without* thinking of the horsepower numbers, acceleration figures, cornering G's, etc... Just the 'look'.
I think the new one is really good. It's finally got the 'look' back IMO. I want to see 1 in person though...
(But, for me...the 'Vette still died in 1968.)
I think a lot of Americans are critical of the Corvette mainly because they are everywhere. I was too until living in France for 2 years. While there I saw one driving on the roads in the Alpes, and it got more attention than a Ferrari. I admit, it looked amazing and exotic when it is rare. All in perception I guess.
mitt
Id still take a C3 over any other vette. They were my favorite car when I stated noticing cars...and they are still my favorite vette to this day. Im just glad they are starting to have edges again...stupid 90's jellybean phase everyone went through...everything looked like a ford probe.

+1.
It all went south with the 'Barbie" vette (C4). But I agree that GM has made major style improvements since then. Almost there... This new one has some really great lines.
If anyone has pics from another angle, please share.
Looks awesome from the side! (green line is for a comparison to some Ferrri which I didn't copy over)

I don't think the green line is the Ferrari's, just an outline for comparison to the Ferrari. That said...they are
very close. They definitely took some cues from it.
I misunderstood.
I'd like to see the Ferrari.

They're different enough.
The Vette still has some of that slab sided thing going on, but I agree that it's the best one in a long time.
Again... give me a '63 split window coupe. Keep your Ferrari look alikes. For that matter give me an AC Bristol... soon to be Shelby Cobra. ;)

i don't care for the corvettes, but i would love to be in a car that i could get to almost 180mph
On Barrett-Jackson last weekend Rick Hendrick bought the new #0001 Corvette Stingray for $200,000.

C3 for me as well... put today's tech in a c3 and its golden..
I'm not sure of the generation, but I loved the "Mako Shark" body. IIRC that was the last generation for some serious horsepower because the next revision got killed by smog rules of the 70s.

the horsepower is greater now
the C6 ZR1 is 632 hp
I expect they will push for 700 with the top version of this one
I'm not fond of the redesign because of the vents but they are functional and a darker color makes them stand out less

I'll vomit when I see the first one to have replaced them with chrome plated plastic vents and maybe even added on a few fake vents on for good measure.

Well, that didn't take long.
It's been less than a month since Chevrolet revealed the 2014 Corvette Stingray, and already one has turned up wrecked. Since the new Corvette isn't on sale yet, chances are someone at General Motors will have a sizable expense report to fill out.
Caught by a poster at Digital Corvettes, the photo was supposedly snapped recently in Arizona, with the original shooter's commentary: "Cop had just arrived. Car is in worse shape than looks. Hit guardrail on left and bounced back to rocks." Automakers often run hot-weather and handling tests in Arizona, and this copy wears the Michigan manufacturer license plates that a GM-owned prototype would carry on public roads.
While at first glance the Vette looks OK, a closer look reveals serious damage; the front wheel looks too far askew, and there's long scrapes on the side of the body and the wheels. There may have been a side air bag deployed as well, but it's hard to tell under the tinted rear glass.
It's rare but not unheard of for a factory pre-production test drive to end in a crash; at this stage of Corvette development, the engineers would be tweaking software settings or chasing down some final production issues before the launch later this year. We asked Chevy for comment, and until we hear back we're struck by what GM always warns media test drivers: "Keep it shiny side up."
UPDATE: According to Chevy spokesman Monte Doran, this was a GM test drive gone wrong: "During evaluation, the driver caught the inside tire caught the edge of the pavement during a tight corner, leading to the accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, the car received only minor damage, and no citations were issued."
that'll buff right out
