Title: key ignition finally died...going to plan B. any ideas?
Post by: Bergweiserus on February 11, 2013, 08:00:36 PM
Hello everyone,

my key/ignition has been acting weird for that last couple years and last month it just completely died in an embarassing way: i was at a gas station and went to kill the engine by turning the key to the 'off' position and all hell broke loose...chugging, one cylinder firing or some weird thing...not too sure what it was.  when i finally got the engine to stop by holding the brake for 60 seconds while in gear, i couldn't get it started again...no lights, no nothing.

so i'm hoping that it's just my key lock set.

if it is, i am thinking about just throwing in the towel on the whole 'key' thing and just installing an ignition bypass switch like the one in this link:

my question is: has anyone added a 'secret' kill switch hidden on the bike so that some monkey doesn't come by, click my bypass switch on and drain my battery?

thanks for any help and or thoughts!!
