So, figure it's time to put some sliders on the bike, and I am seeking counsel.

Anyone here use Speedymoto? Know a good place to get these sliders at?

Anyone have a high opinion of another brand?

speedymoto seems to be what most people get (thought pricey). I went with t-rex racing. Just as great quality IMO.

I'm being a little more picky about these than sliders on my other bikes, since this will also function as an engine mount, and I want to go with quality regardless of price (within reason).

They took the best features of several diffferent sliders and added a few of their own based on past experience from installs/replacement and crashing.

I went with the Motovation sliders for mine. There seems to be a little more meat on them, compared to speedymoto.

to be quite frank...most frame sliders do 1 purpose well in the same circumstance...that circumstance being in a 10mph or less drop, they keep the general overall machine and it's parts from being damaged..when you get above that point, is where many of these can vary in how they deal with the impact...while some may keep the frame from being scraped or damaged, in a fair number of cases, there have been sliders that when impacted, the engine mounts on the block/cases suffer due to the shock of the fall which transmits the energy to the engine casing past the frame and cracks those mountings ( see the pictures on their website and several threads here too as well)...and while that is repairable by welding and all, it is a pain in the ass to have to deal with...and the Axljak's deal with prevention of that issue a little better than others IMHO...are they as sleek and slender as other brands??....nope...but I am a function over form kinda guy.

Zooom's comments are right on.

If you're installing sliders to prevent damage from a stationary tipover then all the brands mentioned will do the job.

If you want a slider to actually protect from a crash, and not damage the engine or the frame bosses, then the axl-jak slider does the best job, and Jack is a great guy. Be aware that the axl-jak unit will probably scar the paint on the frame where it mounts.

I thought it might when I saw it. Seems like that might only be a concern if I actually use the sliders in a get off.

Think the vibration of just running the bike will damage the paint?

scratched paint on the frame seems like a lesser problem than broken frame or smashed up tank...

If you do go with Speedymoto, try Monster Parts (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/09-0201/Protection-Slider/09-0201.html).  I think they are $134, which is lower than $149 at most other places.  Plus, Jeff's customer service is top notch.

Speedymoto frame/axle sliders have served me very well in 3 tip overs and 2 lowsides at 30 and 50mph all on the same puck.  Paid for themselves 10 times over.

+1 on Jeff. He's a good dude. +1 on the Speedymoto sliders too. I had a 50mph lowside at a trackday and they did their job very well. To replace a bent motor mount but/slider mount was questionable to me so I replaced that set with rg-racing sliders I believe it was.
