Title: 09' 696 wont start up Post by: AlexStJean on March 05, 2013, 12:12:57 PM Hi everyone. Newly Ducati owner here.
2009 696, 12K miles. I rolled out the bike from my garage (key on, dashboard reading normal) I Turned off the key and went inside for my stuff. Came back out and now im sitting down. I turned on the key, Neutral light on, dashboard on and normal. I thumb started it and everything turned off. I tryed again but now I only hear a "clicky" "clicky" noise coming form under the gas tank. I tryed again but now the dashboard turns on and off as the "clicky" noise is going on. I pulled out the key and i could still see the "red" light blinking. Battery is new. I assume there is a short somewhere. Don't know where. Any ideas? First thing I'd be checking is that the battery terminal connections have been properly tightened. Title: Re: 09' 696 wont start up Post by: Howie on March 05, 2013, 08:26:43 PM First check battery voltage. If below 12.6 volts, recharge (assuming this is a lead acid battery). Then have it load tested. Now you know whether the battery is good. Or you could skip the load test and see if the bike cranks well.
Then check battery connections and ground. After that, check charging system voltage, you want to see 13.5-14.5 volts at 3K RPM at the battery. And if they are loose or corroded theres one problem solved right there. Then check the battery voltage.
