Title: Black forks? Post by: DucDucGoos on March 08, 2013, 01:56:49 PM Does anybody have black forks on their bike? If so, pics pls, and what did you use/ how has it held up? I've heard that even the hard anodizing does not hold up very well and I would assume that powdercoating them would cause them to be too thick for the triples. I also heard of vinyl wrapping, but have no idea how durable or noticeable it would be.
Inputs? :) Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: Stormtrooper on March 08, 2013, 01:59:49 PM If carbon fiber is your thing...

Post by: Novelo on March 08, 2013, 02:31:47 PM Mine are hard anodized Type III and anyone that says they don't hold up very well have been wanking off in shed somewhere. Type III is hard anodized and will be the most protective because its hard metal unlike vinyl or paint. The coloring is in the metal its self so as long as a scratch or dig isn't to deep you will hardly notice. Three years plus for those forks and no fading my belt covers have already faded to purple though so yay.

Post by: Speeddog on March 08, 2013, 02:44:04 PM I've done several sets in Hard Black Ano, both for my own and for customers, and they don't fade.
My pics would look the same... Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: Spy+ on March 08, 2013, 05:00:23 PM CB looks sick [thumbsup]

Post by: Travman on March 08, 2013, 05:34:44 PM I did the vinyl wrap a few years ago. I never meant for it to stay on long term. I was actually thinking of anodizing my forks, but never got around to it.

How you gonna get the forks back in the triples after the dip?Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: ducpainter on March 09, 2013, 06:16:53 AM How you gonna get the forks back in the triples after the dip? Post by: malamikigo on March 09, 2013, 06:02:49 PM How you gonna get the forks back in the triples after the dip? The idea in my head was more to mask like a champ and do them on the bike. Maybe just pull off the front tire. ....probably a terrible idea, but that doesn't mean I'm still not tempted to try. ;D Title: Re: Black forks? Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: Stormtrooper on March 10, 2013, 01:55:58 PM That's a vinyl wrap not CF forks, no? It's an actual sheet of carbon fiber formed around the forks, not a vinyl wrap. You may be thinking of the 3M carbon di-noc stuff Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: vossy on March 10, 2013, 06:02:57 PM I dig those black forks!
Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: lazylightnin717 on March 11, 2013, 04:36:30 AM I dig every single bike posted in this thread!
Aren't the forks from the Diesel Monster black? Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: Charlief on March 17, 2013, 03:19:54 PM I had mine hard ano'ed several years ago and they still look great.
Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: slvrflme147 on March 17, 2013, 03:37:41 PM I just wrapped my forks this weekend. Takes a lot of patience to mold to the shape of the forks but changes the bike's look so much. Fairly cheap mod and really worth it.

Title: Re: Black forks? Post by: caperix on March 19, 2013, 05:54:44 AM I love the look of the anodized forks tubes, race tech also sells black sliders for the all black look. Has anyone tried to home anodize? I have been looking at the kit from Caswell platings
