Title: Spot the New Bling...
Post by: Cher on March 08, 2013, 02:31:07 PM

Thought I'd start a new thread for when folks add a new mod to their Duc, a kind of before and after, spot the new bling thread.  So here goes:

Before:

After (ignore the panniers):

And the new bling is?  [evil]

That clutch cover is really nice, I see you are keeping the silver theme going chez vous. [thumbsup]

I may have just the bling you need for your cool Silversicle: a gently used silver Rizoma 25mm conical tapered aluminum bar, pre-drilled for the 04-06 MTS DS brake and clutch perch locating pins, with a silver Rizoma tall riser set (now discontinued), and a pair of silver Rizoma Sportline grips. I should also have the OE MTS-S black bar ends I used with that control setup around here somewhere, you would need that type with the conical bar. Or you could find silver ones. [cheeky]

This bar and riser set puts your hands at about the same height as the OE 22mm steel cylindrical bar, but closer together and with a little more backsweep. In other words, it puts your hands roughly where they would be on an 05-06 MTS S with its taller risers and flatter conical bar. Conical bars help damp vibration, and together with the increased backsweep, I found these a lot more comfortable to use than the stock.

I've got all these cherry take-offs bubble-wrapped to protect them from getting damaged in the garage, so I can't easily take pictures of them. I wasn't really planning to get a lot for them, I just didn't want to give them away when I traded in the '05 MTS for the '10 MTS 1200.  If you're interested in taking a look at them, PM me and we can work out a meet-up.

So that's the reason!  My doc will be happy to know I've located the cause for my occasional meteoric rise in blood pressure  [cheeky]

Thanks, I agree with the color bit.  Would not have bought it otherwise.  And... well, honestly, I like the Terblanche bikes.

There.  I said it.  (I also like Karmann Ghias...)

It's ok, I always take an ACE inhibitor before I read your posts to prevent apoplexy.

I realize I tend to wax rhapsodic over motorcycle fettling and farkling. [laugh]

Lisa, PM sent.

I'm very curious to see what he comes up with at his new gig with Confederate....

Ah-ha!  So a "clutch cover" pix does exist... Now what could go so wrong with a clutch cover that you wouldn't want anyone to see it?   [evil]

And what the hell, I thought Terblanche was at MV Augusta?  Confederate isn't a bad gig but... wow, is the world ready?

No, Norton (2011) by way of Piaggio (2008).

I like Confederate's bikes!  I wouldn't wish that on them...   :-[

"...In 1999, the Supersport had a major facelift. The fairing was redesigned after the Ducati Supermono and fuel injection introduced. The 1999 model was one of the first Ducatis designed by Pierre Terblanche and met with very limited success based on its controversial aesthetics... Eventually ...it was finally discontinued... The SS naming convention was... dropped..."

I'm not fond of primary chain drives. Every time I see one, I am reminded what a stroke of genius Dr. T's L-twin is.

It really was a great design!
The Pantah engine architecture didn't start to get phased-out until last year when the 1199's completely new design came out.

They will probably make something like them forever...
It was an AMAZINGLY long time for a design to stay competitive on the track and in the marketplace!   [bow_down]

Speedymoto makes the plate and its on sale to boot.  The half cover I found used, as they don't make them anymore.

Man, you've gotta luv that bike  [thumbsup]  So the half cover is also Speedymoto?  Does the bike have Termis?

The cover is a speedymoto 'half-life' model.  It is extremely thick and beefy, so that combined with the tall towers on the plate to protect the clutch spring posts, it should survive a drop.  It has a full termi system from the previous owner, makes a pretty big boom.

Indeed.  [drool] [drool] [drool]  I've been building up the courage to buy a set of red Assetto Garas for my ride.  The Mrs. rips on me all the time for the awful steelies (and snowflake hubcaps) that came with the car.  Best wife ever.  [cheeky]
