Title: power commander ?
Post by: chitown on March 10, 2013, 02:48:21 PM
On my 2009 monster 696  this winter I have replaced my timing belts, checked my valve clearnce and is still in spec, also resealed the rocker inspection covers, installed rearsets, new brake fluid, oil change, airfilter.   I had already installed leo vince gp exhaust slip-on's.  My question is I have just orderd a power commander, and I see that they have calibrations for termi exhaust with or with out silencers taken out.   Would I use that calibration also with my leo vince.  I have read that the calibration richens the fuel because of the bike being lean from the factory and then leaning out more due to the exhaust.  should I also put the pod filter kit on from ca-cycleworks?  do I have to remount or move things to make the pods to fit?   thanks for any help

is it a power commander III or V?

putting exhaust will make your bike run lean, and those pod filters will make it run even more lean.  i would look for a mapping that richens your mixture.  of course if you have a pcV then you can just auto-adjust!

the V works with the 696

the leo vince would be the same as the termi, so with or without db maps

but remember the termi kit for the 696 comes with a free flow filter. without the free flow filter, there is very little change to the fuel map with just slipons.

to auto-adjust you have to purchase the autotune module and either put new O2 bungs or get the ecu flashed to remove the stock O2 sensors and replace them with the autotune wideband sensors.

as far as the pod kit, the coils, ecu and battery all mount to the airbox, so unless it comes with brackets for those, you'll have to build or find one.

IF you do go pods, and don't go autotune then you will need to take it to a shop to get it tuned to run correctly.
