Title: Newbie to DFM Looking for Info Post by: andylaiphoto on March 20, 2013, 12:14:26 PM Hello everybody.
I'm in the market for another bike. I've got my eyes on a used 2009 Monster 1100S with less than 4k on it. Asking price is $9500. I'm wondering if that price is a decent deal or do you think they should be able to go lower? Also what is the service interval for these bikes, how much does it cost, are most of the service intervals easy DIYs, and what problems/issues should I be aware of/look for? Thanks for any and all the help you guys are willing to give. Andy Lai Title: Re: Newbie to DFM Looking for Info Post by: zooom on March 20, 2013, 12:29:55 PM welcome
are there any specific mods done to said bike? is this from a dealer or a private sale? as far as ease of service, I think that can depends on your mechanical/technical capabilities. It had 7k miles on it and had just had the 7k service done, and was equipped with a nice assortment of goodies. The price was $9400, which was below retail bluebook, and they gave me high book value for my trade in.
The service intervals are every 7500 miles and the cost depends on who does it, just call around. I intend to do my own servicing, I have a friend with extensive experience should I need assistance. As far as things to look out for, I suppose I would like to know those as well! I figured one major engine issue in five years and the warranty would pay for itself. not the S model though as I wanted to make my own "S" with better stuff for the same money. Did I mention a warranty? I plan on a new bike every five years or so anyway ( :

If your buying from a dealer, make sure to purchased that used bike for OTD pricing. I would have paid $9500 tops for mine, it was bone stock with 640 miles.
