Title: Fitting Vance & Hines CS One Slipon-should I change air filter?
Post by: Andyind on March 21, 2013, 06:42:49 AM
Hello members,

I have a monster 796 2011. I am changing my stock exhaust to Vance & Hines CS One Undertail black today. I was wondering if I should change the air filter from stock to K & N ? will it help if I do? or will it heat up my bike even more? I live in a very hot country where the day time temperatures are 100 deg F normally.

They say the slipon change will make the bike run lean (means more heat). Will changing the filter to K & N make it even more leaner?
One more question - do I need an ECU piggyback like Bazzaz to make the bike run better with the new slipon? or is it OK to leave the stock ECU as is?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

dont change it unless you get a Powercommander V to deal with the extra air intake.

just slipons with the stock airfilter and ecu should be ok

oh and put pics in the semi-official exhaust thread  ;D

Hey Raux, thanks for the quick reply. I will follow your advice. Yes, I will put pics, once I fit them all in.
By the way, Bazzaz seems to be better than power commander 5, as per internet research. your opinion?

I've got the same bike and exhaust. Just left everything stock. Doesn't seem to run any hotter to me. Of course I'm in upstate NY where it almost never gets much past 90. They sound and look great.

As allways, your other choice would be to send the ECU away for reflash and then add the high performance air filter.  Search the threads, lots of info.
