Title: oops-- ordered the wrong size tire I think Post by: nllm_oo_mlln on July 02, 2008, 05:29:12 PM my pilot road 2s came in today when double checked the front tire size
I got a 120/70 ZR17 on it ordered a 120/60 ZR17 most of the specs online -- inc ducati say 120/60 is stock. when I got the pirelli Scorpion syncs it was a holiday weekend and I took what I could get.. so perhaps they fit it with the 120/70. never realy liked the syncs but maybe it was because the tire size wasn't optimal. will it fit? does it make a difference? hate to wait another week and a half to get back on the road. could some other 695 / 620 owners tell me what you got? mine's a 695 if that matters thanks Title: Re: oops-- ordered the wrong size tire I think Post by: Speeddog on July 02, 2008, 05:38:40 PM OEM tire is a 120/60.
It does make a difference. Title: Re: oops-- ordered the wrong size tire I think Post by: Hedgehog on July 02, 2008, 05:54:37 PM A 3.5 x 17 wheel will properly fit either a 120/60 or a 120/70 tire. The /70 will give you a bit more protection from potholes and probably a better ride. On my '94 CR, they specify the /60 front, but that's just a down-rating to make the bike cheaper to build. I've always run /70s on it. After all, it's got the same front wheel as the SP.
Title: Re: oops-- ordered the wrong size tire I think Post by: Howie on July 02, 2008, 07:06:47 PM The /70 tire will work fine, but since the tire is a little taller you should either lower the front or raise the rear to maintain geometry. If they made the mistake and you prefer the /60 they should exchange it for you.
Title: Re: oops-- ordered the wrong size tire I think Post by: VisceralReaction on July 03, 2008, 09:05:34 AM It works out that the 120/70 is 12mm taller than the 120/60. Doesn't seem like much but you will probably notice a
change in handling. Title: Re: oops-- ordered the wrong size tire I think Post by: nllm_oo_mlln on July 03, 2008, 09:22:39 AM the new one is a 120/60. haven't put it on yet. but I will as soon as I find a suitable tree or swing set to hang it from.
