Title: Lower triple question
Post by: ruffrider on March 30, 2013, 10:36:23 PM
Hi guys. I currently have my 1994 m900 all tore down for powder coat and rebuild. I'm stumped on how to get the lower triple apart from the "stem bolt"? It looks to me like it may either be pressed in or threaded maybe? I'm wanting to powder coat both upper and lower triples black so I need to get the bolt out of the lower. Let me know.
Thank you.

Can't you let the powder guy cover up the stem?

Yes I do suppose I could have him do that. Thanks for reminding me of that option lol. I was going about it the hard way I guess.

I left my stem on and told the powder guy to not pc it. I also took a sharpie marker and wrote on the stem " NO POWDER". This way there's no misunderstanding.

off topic here, however when you removed your lower triple did you find a bearing seal between the base plate washer and the bearing?  Curious to know for my current situation.

thanks.

There's a taper shaped bearing that fits to the neck, then a flat washer looking flange between it and the lower triple. I think the bearing is pressed on and I think it at least needs to be removed for pc right?
