Title: Doing the happy dance!! Zards are here!
Post by: Skybarney on April 01, 2013, 07:28:10 PM
Yay just got a call from Motowheels and my Zards are here!  I am going to pick them up tomorrow and rip into the Duc.  Trying to decide if I am going to rip out the exhaust servo and oxygen sensors but being in California I have not yet decided.  I also want to be careful with my warranty.  I have a high flow filter that goes in also as well as the evap box removal plan.

I am open to thoughts from other riders at this point as I have read about all I can read.  Cali riders, do you have any experience with warranty issues taking out the O2 sensors and exhaust servo?

Ask and you shall receive  Well I got the pipes on, the air filter on and the evap can off.  Life is good but my back hurts like hell.  I really should buy a manual as it took a minute to realize I had to pull the gas tank to get to the air filter.

Zards went on pretty easy and sound wonderful even with the DB killers in.  May leave it that way.

I am going the ez route with the evap and plugging the return Nipple on the tank and and plugging the line that went to the intakes.  Nothing fancy but it will return to stock in moments.  I do live in Calimake the beast with two backsyua after all.

Doing a reflash tomorrow with Motowheels,  Leaving in but bypassing the O2 sensors and the exhaust servo.  If I get away with the pipes this summer I will pull the servo and O2 sensor off, properly plug the intakes and keep on riding.

Awww heck just realized I now have to buy the Rizoma cable tidy for the evap removal,  always something!

The warranty issue really boils down to how mod friendly your dealer is.  There is no black and white answer on this.  I find most Ducati dealers are mod friendly, considering most sell aftermarket parts in house anyways.  Remember, the warranty issue only arises when SOMETHING BREAKS.  Its highly unlikely for your dealer to void your warranty while having it in for an oil change because they noticed some aftermarket bits on it.

My "warranty cock-block prevention method" was always to keep the stock parts around and make sure no mod is permanent (this goes for cars too).  IF something did break or malfunction swap back the OEM parts and eliminate the finger pointing game at the dealer as to what may have caused said warranty claim.  Even though the dealer would have to prove the aftermarket parts caused the failure, it's just easier to avoid going down that road all together.  For the record I've never actually had to do this, it's insurance more or less.
