Title: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: Dockstrada on July 02, 2008, 11:51:42 PM Ok just out of curiosity and an effort to improve our local Ducati club ,
I would like to know how many current D.O.C NSW members we have on this forum. 1) If you are not a member of D.O.C NSW please give us some reasons to help us understand why? What has stopped you? 2)If you are a current member of the D.O.C NSW and do not attend many if any rides or activities? Why is this, and what can be done to get your participation in the activities? 3)If you are a current member of the D.O.C NSW and do attend most rides and activities ,and think there could be some changes? What are they? Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: loony888 on July 03, 2008, 12:07:24 AM nope.
why? cause i live in qld!!!! this is OZ monsters, not NSW monsters. ;D paul. [thumbsup] Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: Big T on July 03, 2008, 12:16:42 AM Member of DOCs....
Been on 1 ride and had a great time ....... [thumbsup] Been a bit pre-occupied the last 12 months preparing / training for my adventure. But come September I can see some ride days coming up as a great recovery process.... [moto] Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: monstermick58 on July 03, 2008, 12:24:03 AM Was...

Why not? Because I don't like the politics of clubs, i have a young family and would only be a paying member. Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: R_usty on July 03, 2008, 12:57:11 AM Hey Doc,
I am a member of DOC NSW and would go on more rides if I had the time - I have done rides with them and they do a great job. Did the Turismo last year with them and it was great to travel with them. I don't get involved with the politics but appreciate the work some guys put in and help where I can. Cheers, R_usty Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: DUCMONROB on July 03, 2008, 03:04:53 AM Not a member Why not? Because I don't like the politics of clubs, i have a young family and would only be a paying member. ditto! Never botherd as the feedback I get from previous members is there is several members that take it a little too seriously. I don't need bull shit when all I want to do is enjoy the ride! Thats why i'm here, no politics only a bloke called TOOL! Thats my opinion anyway, if you can tell me its better than that I may join. Doesn't cost anything as my insurance gives me a discount if i'm a member of a club. Rob Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: goldFiSh on July 03, 2008, 05:03:33 AM I joined when I got my monster (mostly again for the insurance discount), then I found the DML, met kickstart, mostro 900, big, loony, and maybe ita on the general forum of the DML, went on some rides with the Syd people, then Hooligans Down under was started, in turn changing to Oz Monsters, and as such I never got to a meeting or ride.
So probably laziness more than anything - I joined the forum and am still a member, but I kinda found what I was looking for on the DML. Nothing against DOCNSW, but that's kinda how it happened. I will say that everyone I have met from DOCNSW have all been good people as well, so maybe I should renew... Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: Super T.I.B on July 03, 2008, 01:33:50 PM Was... As you would expect, I go on most Club rides but cant get enough, so I also joined South Coast Ducati Club (formed Nov 2007) and this great forum the DMF as well. I like to have plenty of options and my Ducati Family just gets bigger and bigger. As to suggestions to improve DOC Clubs..... more input from younger Ducati Riders would be a good thing. New ideas, new ride destinations and even just new faces, keeps Clubs reinventing themselves. When I joined the DOC in 1976, the average age of a member was 22. No survey has been undertaken, but I'd say the average now is about 40 something. Politics within Clubs does exist. We try and keep it at the Committee level, so the general members don't have to be bothered with those shenanigans. You're all welcome to join, rejoin and participate. We are in the process of upgrading our website (docnsw.org.au), but its worth a look. cheers .... BIG AL Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: ducsport on July 05, 2008, 03:13:27 AM Dock,
+1 for most comments for me. I have a young family, so getting out to meetings etc are a real pain. The DOC NSW activities are mainly Sydney/Northern Sydney based, so the geography doesn't suit. Looked at the South Coast DOC, and to be honest just have not got around to joining. So far, this forum (and the last one) really work for me. All clubs have their own politics and cliques, in my experience at least. Nothing wrong with it - its human nature to be "tribal". I have in past lives been president of a car club, and to be honest the politics wear thin after a while. That said, every DOC member I have met has been really nice. Really like the laid back approach that the DMF provides. Oh, and there are some truly funny bast@rds in this forum! ducsport Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: mattyvas on July 05, 2008, 01:35:13 PM I am a DOC NSW member, joined the week I got my bike 18months ago.
Have since rejoined and I think it did the longer membership but I can't remember (getting old) Since being a member I haven't had a chance to join them for a ride, all my fault due to other commitments etc.... From what I read and see the rides are very well organized with lots-a bikes turning up and plenty of notice of days/dates. Maybe all of us should join the DOC NSW peoples for a ride coming up? There is only one way to know if you'd enjoy riding with the group and as Big Al said everyone is welcome and the more younger members who come along the better..... I have never really been very involved in clubs so I can't comment on the ins & outs of politics etc.... We are pretty self regulated here and keep things in check of our own accord. My 2c's Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: Betty on July 05, 2008, 11:55:30 PM We are members of the NDDOC as some of you know - we joined them before we discovered the online community. We do try and go on most of the rides (like today) and can stay away from all the running of the club (politics) if that is what you want.
The rides do vary both in length and speed but follow a respectful protocol. From what we have seen it is not so much the riders that are more 'mature' (although that is also the case) but generally the bikes are a bit more mature. But most of those guys can out-ride me on their 30+ year old machines (not so easy for them to out-ride the Boss however - such as today). So we don't have much motivation (or time) to be involved in yet another club. We are also involved in motoring clubs for different vehicles and can definitely agree that politics can become a real pain in the arse. Some people just can't seem to grasp that it is not their own individual club to do with as they please. Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: techno on July 06, 2008, 06:39:16 PM I'm a member of my local DOC but not NSW as its too far to go from Tassie for a day ride. [laugh]
Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: giannig on July 08, 2008, 02:42:06 AM I am a member of DOC NSW and go on many of the Sunday rides. Great bunch of people and I don't see much of the politics. Hopefully we will see some more DMF members on future rides.
Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: bigiain on July 08, 2008, 06:15:45 PM So we don't have much motivation (or time) to be involved in yet another club. That's my biggest reason for not joining (or re-joining, I got signed up for free by Frasers when I bought my bike back in '99, but never re-enrolled). I don't have enough time to ride with the friends I've already got, never mind making new riding friends. Another, smaller but still important reason, I've grown cautious over the years of riding in large groups - I've "wasted" way to much riding time waiting for other people to fuel up, eat, piss, smoke, fix their bike, chat on the phone, whatever - somehow larger groups _always_ take way more extra time to do anything, even when you allow for the fact that you know they're going to take way more time. My personal preference is riding in a group of 4-8 bikes. Any more than that and I almost always end up frustrated by _something_. Larger groups that naturally break down into 4-8 bike sub groups work OK for me (so long as I'm not "in charge" of the larger group), but mass rides of 20 or 30 bikes are just not my cup of tea. big Title: Re: D.O.C NSW Survey Post by: Betty on July 08, 2008, 07:27:40 PM Does this mean you won't be joining us on the 2nd? ..... or perhaps marshalling us into groups on arrival?
You must admit that it is inherently cool if a dozen or so Monsters all rock up to the same place.
