Title: Clutch basket+plates recommendations Post by: Rudemouthsky on April 07, 2013, 08:56:06 AM I'm wondering what basket/plates combo you guise are using, how you like it, and what you paid for it. Title: Re: Clutch basket+plates recommendations Post by: koko64 on April 07, 2013, 10:52:25 AM Bang for buck. ;D
NGR alloy basket (Motowheels) NGR spring/retainer kit (Motowheels) or Barnett spring/retainer kit (Cal Cycleworks). Barnett alloy plate kit (Cal Cycleworks) Use existing drum and pressure plate. Color the pressure plate with VHT engine paint of your choice. Run a stock clutch cover. VHT color of your choice. Title: Re: Clutch basket+plates recommendations Post by: Rudemouthsky on April 07, 2013, 11:02:41 AM I looked at that...sorta torn between it, and Ducati OE aluminum baskets on eBay for $119 shipped.
Or a lightly used Nichols aluminum basket for $69 + the Barnett red plates Lots of negative comments about these Barnett plates...and lots of positive as well. I'd just buy a used OE basket + plates in decent condition if these sellers didn't have the stones to ask up to $350 for em...ffs. Buying clutch stuff is a PITA. Title: Re: Clutch basket+plates recommendations Post by: koko64 on April 07, 2013, 11:59:00 AM Some good deals there.
If that Nichols basket really is " lightly used", then thats a good price. You have joined the dry clutch parts treasure hunt! Some people have complained about the Barnett friction material, but I've never had a problem with it. There are threads going right into it. I run a closed cover so water doesnt get in. I find the tangs are soft and get hammered before the friction material wears out. Otherwise I do like the feel of those plates. I just hate the noise nowdays. Title: Re: Clutch basket+plates recommendations Post by: Rudemouthsky on April 07, 2013, 12:12:47 PM I ended up getting that Nichols basket for $65, and picked up a new Barnett clutch pack for $147.
The clutch pack had me confused bc of the cheap price, and the listing title......but it's the same sku as both Motowheels and Ca-cycleworks sells, so...I hope it works. http://www.ebay.com/itm/270607035082?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/270607035082?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) Title: Re: Clutch basket+plates recommendations Post by: Rudemouthsky on April 07, 2013, 12:16:22 PM This is the basket:
