Title: Barracuda belly pan install help
Post by: DavidEW on April 07, 2013, 11:59:11 PM
Just got my belly pan for my 796.  Unfortunately the instructions are in italian and the pictures are useless.  I know some others have installed it - anyone willing to post instructions with pics?  I have a toddler so nap time is when I get to fiddle with the bike so I can't waste time trying to figure out the instructions - it would be much appreciated if someone who has already done it could hook me up-

Cheers

I'm in the middle of installing a belly pan on my 2008 S2R-1000 and will get some pictures posted if you think it will help.  Not the easiest undertaking but I think worth the effort.  Mine came with NO instructions and random hardware.  My plan of attack was to download pictures of bikes with the same pan installed.  I put the bike on the center stand and propped the pan up under the bike with a plastic jug.  The mounting points were immediately obvious once the pan was held in place.  I then removed the hex bolts from the engine and mounted the small brackets leaving them loose enough to be able to shift the pan around.  I had to use spacers on 3 of the 4 mounting points to keep the pan from contacting either the bracket or th4e engine.  I then used my dremmel to trim the pan for my Arrow header and the kickstand.  After trimming it I remounted the pan and double checked all the clearances.  I tightened the brackets and removed the pan.  I found a guy who will paint it Ducati Red for $75.  I'll get some pictures posted.

I figured it out.  Wasn't as bad as I had thought, just took time.  Had to go slow and not get angry.  Still don't understand why in this world nobody seems to ever supply good directions.  It seems like an easy thing to do.  I did find out that one bolt they had sent was completely wrong but luckily I was able to find one in my garage that worked (again - really??).  But at the end of the day it was well worth it, I think it looks great.

Cool!  I'm glad it worked out.  Here's a picture of mine... I just got it mounted.
