besides the look and style, I'm curious as to why go from a cast wheel to another cast wheel?  If I'm going to upgrade the wheels they will be lighter!  forged, cast or forged magnesium, carbon, etc...

for the same reason some people swap their white plastics for black, or black for red.. or take off the bikini fairing.. or put it on, or swap a standard fender for carbon fiber. None of things provide any performance increase.. but someone likes it enough to make the change. purely aesthetics.

As for me specifically. I have a 2009 m1100. After purchasing my bike, the first mod i wanted was to poweder coat my rims black. Now this provides no perfomance benefit whatsoveer.. however, what happened next year?  Ducati decides to powder coat the new models rims BLACK.  The gaul the audacitiy!  So this rim present 2 interesting benefits for me. One .. its already black.. and 2. I much prefer the 5 spoke wheel design on the single sided swing arm.. than the cluncky rim thats on it now.  It has a much more open and airy look, which really makes the single sided swing arm look even more sleek.

Agreed ^  you have the silver wheels?

My 1100s has the gold 10 spokes which I was going to immediately have painted black, but the gold color has grown on me and I will wait to paint them when they are all scratched up and ugly looking.   [Dolph]

From what I gather all 848 and hypermotard wheels will fit the 796/1100.  Is this true of 17x6.0 rears as well?

True, you make a good point.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the idea at all, I too think the S4R wheels look better than the 1100s.  I was more or less curious if they were any lighter and there was any performance benefit to be gained.  Anchorisms swap turned out great!

From the test fitting my buddy and i did we got some weight measurements.  He was running a different front at the time though so i know it varies.  Sorry the pictures arent the best.  Numbers are 25.5lbs for the 796 running a worn out Power 2CT and 25lbs for the S4R running a worn out Dunlop.  As for the rear im not 100% sure but when the set i have was shipped with identical packaging to and from, the numbers were within ounces.
