Heya guys, going to pull the shock off the Monster ('07 S2r 1000) and get it resprung. I've got the rear stand, but looking around for good points to put jackstands, I can't find anything that looks like it souldn't get damaged. Anyone done this before? Anyone have a pic or can tell me where to support this thing?
Passenger pegs and frame sliders.
I don't have frame sliders on the bike, but do you really think the passenger pegs are stable enough?
I have 21" jack stands, so I think I need something lower down.
On mine we removed the seat and used ratchet straps attached to the frame lifting the bike from a beam above in the garage .

Not the actual pegs, but the mounts. I think the passenger pegs are sturdier than leveraging the bike over onto the kickstand. I've also used the rearsets.
I think when I did mine the first time I attached the handlebars to my workbench with the handy cycle strap and jacked the back up under the engine. You really only want it to come up enough to relieve the pressure. Too far and then you have to lift the swingarm back into place, and that can get old pretty quick.
My ducs have dual-sided swingarms. I have a steel rod I put through the hollow swingarm pivot and then I rest that on some jackstands. Very stable. Usually I also have the front wheel in a Baxley chock. I've also used a ladder over the rear of the bike (think A frame) with ratcheting tie-downs in lieu of an overhead beam. To make life easier I have a nifty "labjack" scissor thing I put under the rear wheel to support the rear wheel and fine-tune its height.

when i removed the shock from my 620 I put a floor jack roughly under the swing arm pivot so it would suspend the bike but let the swingarm move through it's extension.
