Whats with Kevin? Why is he so bitter lately? He is so respected and admired. Making himself look bad. Be they right or wrong, those opinions are best said in private to your best mates in confidence.  Geeez, I thought I was a grumpy 'ol bastard!

Puig's response was strong, but dignified, and more gracious in comparison. Whatever you may think of Puig, he responded tough but with class.

Neither Puig nor Pedrosa speak 'Texas', so the language barrier is one problem.

Kevin gets paid to comment and give opinions - maybe he hit a nerve that he might have been aiming at?

I gained a little respect for Puig in that exchange.  I think he counterpunched Kevin quite well.

Yes, he did.  I was shocked, but he was very serious and very straight.  The bit about him admiring Kev on the podium together was poignant.

Ten points for Puig... and I don't even like him.

What's up with Schwantz?... and I do like him. And yes, he won his title due to Rainey getting hurt. Can't argue that one.

Does he just have his knickers in a wad over the whole CoTA promotion thing and getting booted off the premises? He is not helping himself one bit by running his mouth. Maybe his parents should tell him to shut up.

I pretty much quit listening to what Schwantz said after he blamed Paul Denning for Suzuki's poor results in MotoGP.

schwantz's school isn't a racing school geared to groom/promote racers, its goal is, in his words, to "create more confident, safer riders." it's a basic/advanced street riding course.

...it's also not in texas.

that said, his role as a mentor/coach for the redbull rookie series is something else entirely.

There is a good counterpoint by Dean Adams on soup...Puig does seem to have selective memory.

I dont think Adams hit it square. I reckon he misses the mark. Adams makes the "tasteless" remark about Raineys injury in a direct way, for example. Maybe he is lnto something with the Dorna Vs Kevin thing. Probably alot going on underneath.

Im not a Puig fan either. That whole disproportionate influence thing makes me uneasy.
I'd have a beer (and bbq) with Kevin. Its just sad to see people you admire soil themselves later in life. Texan and Aussie language is similar, I've learned the hard way. Look at Colin, he's got a dose of both! [laugh]

hold on a second...

here's what kevin said according to motogp.com:

“Dani lacks nothing,” Schwantz said, “but he has too much – like Alberto Puig. Dani needs to reach another level by himself. He is like a child who cannot be freed because his parents are holding him back. I like Dani, but he’s a rider who has been with Honda for eight years and not won anything. I would like him to prove me wrong, but I don’t think that will happen.”

a) obviously by 'anything' he meant the GP title.  this is pedro's 8th year in the premier class.

b) nowhere in there do i see kevin comparing himself to dani or anyone else.

imo it's puig who looks like a giant douche here.

as usual.

well...he just added a touch of reality to the injury that Dani is suffering in the fact that we all have talked about....8 years Dani has been Repsol Honda in GP....in those 8 years he has won zero gran prix titles despite the $$$ and favor paid to him over the various teamates ( whom a couple of which in spite of that have won titles) so it is widely expected for Dani to produce a title this year or he will be moved on and treated like the red headed stepchild he has caused other riders to be treated like.

I hereby attest and affirm that Alberto Puig shall from this moment henceforth be renamed in all legal, public and private interactions to: King Brian Wy McDouche, Master and Lord of all Pint sized Spanish Douchebags.

His subjects to include but are not limited to:
Dani "Breaky McHasn'twonshit" Pedrosa
and
Marc "I'd put my own mother/father/grandparents/brother in the gravel if it won me a race" Marquez

God I hate that make the beast with two backsing guy.

marquez's manager is Emilio Alzamora.

...but why go after Puig and portray Dani as a loser? He hasn't won a championship in the premier class, and as much as he needs a blowjob so he can relax, he isn't a bad guy and is always at the sharp end of the field.

I'm not saying anything Kevin said is inaccurate, but just because you have a thought doesn't mean you have to open your mouth.

That's exactly my point.

Kevin should be old enough to know.

puig has given the world plenty of reasons to be gone after.

no doubt this thing was a response to a question in the first place.  and he says: dani lacks nothing, he needs to reach another level by himself.  compliment, encouragement.

he also says he doesn't think dani will do it, which is just trademark schwantz honesty*.

in contrast, puig's reply reads like a petulant little girl.  85 references to how dani is better than kevin... stfu.  kevin never said a word about himself.  he just gave honest opinions about pedro.  i'm sure he's not the only person in that paddock who thinks dani will never do it.. not by a long shot.

*he's also pretty hard on ben in his recent soup article.  and those guys are friends.

Pedro has better record than (say) Capirossi, but just like Capirex, Dani's good but not good enough.

What would it take for Ewokrosa to win?

Getting rid of Papa Puig?

Maybe that's the only reason he's winning.

marquez's manager is Emilio Alzamora.

But I like Emilio so he can't be Marc's Douche Coach. He will have to get some pointers from Puig.

In all seriousness though, Puig is toxic. Period. He's like the Tara Reid of the GP paddock. Just go the make the beast with two backs away because nobody really cares.

At least Kevin interacts with all aspects of racing. Puig thinks his shit smells like lavender and chamomile.

I agree. Kevin made some good points. Puig went straight for "You're a crap rider and my guy is awesome!"

Which has make the beast with two backs-all to do with the points Kevin was making and if anything bolstered his case about Papi Puig and his all-midget, Menudo-esque racing squad.

This whole conversation is like parents getting into a fight at their children's soccer game.

There is no right or wrong, there is just stupid. If you prefer one guy over the other in this matter, then what does that make you? I just know that I just watched the Turd basically dominate a race packed with riders that have more talent in their nose hair than Kevin and Puig combined.

While I agree with you for the most part, I disagree about the talent part. You're comparing completely different skillsets.
One is the ability to get the electronics dialed in while the other is the ability to push the ragged edge of competition knowning that the next corner could see you highsiding into the upper troposphere.
I don't doubt that Dani or JLo or Marquez could ride those bikes. But the comparison of skillsets is sort of skewed based on the nature of the beasts.

I knew someone would call me out on that, but when you add Kevin and Puig's talent, Puig's negative talent brings Kevin down below the alien's nose hairs.
