Title: Trailer parking
Post by: ducFrank on May 07, 2013, 01:08:21 PM
I just picked up a 6x10 and am looking for an inexpensive way to park it. I don't mind if it is out a ways as long as I have full access to it. I live in Arlington.

Anyone have suggestions or know of something?

It is a haul, but you can store it at my place.  Bring your own security....this is the hood :-[

People park their trailers on Rt 50 in Fairfax all the time.  Chain the wheels and the hitch.  Move it about every 2 weeks.

How long can they sit without issue? Or is 2 weeks that timeframe?

I said two weeks to be safe but there is a boat with flat tires sitting there for the last month.

RT 50 near Fairfax circle/Nutley area west of 495.  There is a service road near some apartments.

Fairfax county doesn't list any time restrictions for parking in residential areas... flat tires however could be considered an abandoned vehicle.

Interesting....

Thanks everyone! I think I found some street parking near my house.

Any security recommendations? I've got locks for the doors.

Yeah, lug locks and a chain on the wheels that loops the frame.  The boot locks ^^^ are nice, and definitely a big-ass coupler lock.

Just for giggles I'd get one of those motion alarms too.  It will at least keep kids away.

3 keyed pad locks... check
1 keyed coupler lock... check
wheel lock... won't that make it look like it should be towed?

Arlington will know their locks vs a prive one.

Oh! I have a Kryptonite NY chain sitting the in garage I could donate to the project - if it'll fit through the wheels. It's a beefy make the beast with two backser.
