Title: S4R (996) Hoses Contracting on Cool Down
Post by: Steve.In.Atlanta on May 12, 2013, 01:57:15 PM
I just got my S4R a few weeks ago and just noticed that my cooling hoses contract when it cools down. Is this normal or is there something that needs fixing?

Yeah, pretty much so.

Mine did this once. I had air in the system. Opening the radiator cap and letting the bike run for a bit let the air out and it hasn't happened again since.

When the engine is cool, take the radiator cap off, make sure the little center poppet valve isn't stuck.

I'm pretty sure the cap on the overflow tank has a vent too, make sure that's functional.

That did the trick. Thanks everyone for the help.
