Anyone know what kind of tool they're using at the 1:00 marl

It looks like a piece of billet to keep the pads spread apart in the calipers.

Yep, that way tire swaps are much faster without having to realign the pads.

To bad , I thought maybe it was a tool to do something to the brakes to be able to remove the wheel without rmoving the calipers.

The main reason to remove the calipers is because it's easier to put the wheel back on with the pads out of the way... this tool appears to keep the pads out of the way, so you don't have to remove the caliper.
