Title: Electrical issue after tail light install
Post by: Wrekz on May 20, 2013, 03:02:28 PM
So, I have an issue.  I just installed an integrated tail light on my 2003 M800 and it was working perfectly just after the install.  Then I heard a light pop and lost all power to everything on the bike.  I rechecked all of my wiring and it was done correctly per the directions.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

light pop usually means a fuse blew... since nothing works, I'd guess you lost the main fuse because something is wrong with the directions.  Pictures?

I did have two fuses that were blown, and after replacing them, the bike will start now.  The only issue is that the fuse for the tail light blew again the instant I turned the bike on.  I have an email in with the manufacturer of the tail light so this should get resolved.

I've only had the bike for about 48 hours, so I kinda freaked a little when everything stopped working haha.  Thanks for the help!!

I have an integrated tail light, and I know that the directions can be some what vague.  Blowing a fuse on start up suggests that you have one or more leads incorrectly connected and/ or they are not properly insulated and shorting out.
