Title: DSS zorst Post by: suzyj on May 22, 2013, 02:30:57 PM We're picking up a Piaggio scooter for Perry on the weekend, for ~2K. The deal is that I'm allowed to blow a similar amount on my duc.
So I just ordered all the bits I need to get my bike going again: gaskets, o-rings, little wiring clips, a couple of heads, oil cooler with mount and lines... I've already sent the ecu off for reflashing (not included in my 2K). That comes to 1K. You know where this is headed, right? There's one little tiny bit on my bike that's maybe been neglected. I've done brakes, forks, shock, tail chop, clip-ons, much wiring work, slightly interrupted headwork, ecu, soon to be added oil cooler... But no zorst. It's kinda sticking out like a sore thumb now. So my question: what's the quietest exhaust I can buy that is light and looks good with a tail chop, and fits a dss bike. I remember thinking Dez's arrows looked really nice, but also remembered they were revoltingly loud. I want the look without the noise. And where can I buy them? Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Speeddog on May 22, 2013, 02:55:29 PM Arrows with the DB killers are pretty mellow, IMO.
They're very good quality, and fitment is great. Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: brad black on May 22, 2013, 03:48:09 PM silver danmoto jisu?
know where you can get some. hint hint Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Two dogs on May 22, 2013, 04:25:45 PM Hay Suz [roll] finally
Revoltingly LOUD hmmmmm only if your behind [laugh] So do you want high mount low mount or 2 into 1 Paul's looks good at the moment [thumbsup] shotgun would look strange on a DSS Does Brad Black have an image of the pipes he is suggesting ? I got some new rubbers and straps sent out so I could rotate them, as danmoto say the long flat inner side should be parallel to the swingarm, increasing clearance. never got to doing any more with them. Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Sundog on May 22, 2013, 06:57:51 PM I have two Termi slip'ons for sale that are pretty innocuous with the DB killers inserted. They're for an 2010 M1100 and fit on the stock pipes so not sure if they fit your ride. PM me if you're interested Suzy.
Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Betty on May 22, 2013, 07:43:54 PM You likem zee Arrows?
http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1161 (http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1161) Seem cheap. Baffles (sorry bafflers) ... should keep them tolerable? But more importantly ... Perry on a scooter? You didn't want to start him off with a car? Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Rowdy on May 22, 2013, 08:44:15 PM I liked the Arrows I had, really well built.
I now have an Akrapovic fitted and it sounds great without being too loud (w/o baffle). It is a frekin piece of art. Really, really good quality. No baffle on mine but maybe you could get one/two to work that comes with a baffle? Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: suzyj on May 22, 2013, 09:00:24 PM You likem zee Arrows? http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1161 (http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1161) Seem cheap. Baffles (sorry bafflers) ... should keep them tolerable? But more importantly ... Perry on a scooter? You didn't want to start him off with a car? They're the ones. Pretty. Made Dez's bike almost worth looking at. Just a pity Dez is so ugly. Perry is scared of the whole car thing - I want to buy a place out of town so we can have a dog and boat and all those good things, so Perry needs to have _some_ sort of transport. Here in WA you can get a licence to ride a 50cc scoot in a cereal packet, so that's the simplest thing for him. Doesn't hurt that it's RED and (sorta) Italian. Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: FIFO on May 22, 2013, 11:00:31 PM I like the looks of these MIVVS [thumbsup], made in Italy :-X
You can expect excellent performance from MIVV pipes. They all feature a unique sound, characterized by a delicious low growl that grows louder when the baffle is removed (easily done). Goldie has them on his bike, Matty had them on his 620. :D Sound lovely with out the Bafflers :-* Pj Parts $610 http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24_32_227_83&products_id=3668 (http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24_32_227_83&products_id=3668) ducati monster mivv gp (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=glPm2UIXGNg#) Ebay Free post to Australia and you got change left from your $1000 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXHAUST-MIVV-DUCATI-MONSTER-695-GP-CARBON-06-D019L2S-/111016882276?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d91f3064 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXHAUST-MIVV-DUCATI-MONSTER-695-GP-CARBON-06-D019L2S-/111016882276?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d91f3064) (http://srv1.anotherbike.com/mivv/img/alllanguages/D019L2S_a.jpg) (http://www.mivv.it/risorse/5/207/371/D019L2Sb.jpg) Steel Black Mmmmmmm (http://www.mivv.it/risorse/5/207/371/GP%20STEEL%20BLACK.jpg) http://www.mivv.it/en/prodotti_video_apri2.asp?lv=5/207/371/monster695_06_gp_omol_alto.mp4&np=DUCATI%20-%20MONSTER%20695 (http://www.mivv.it/en/prodotti_video_apri2.asp?lv=5/207/371/monster695_06_gp_omol_alto.mp4&np=DUCATI%20-%20MONSTER%20695) GP: short, agile and aggressive! The typhoon has 12" wheels and bigger brakes. Oh, and was $500 more. Most of the cost of a zorst. I've been promised a zorst come tax time. I'm holding him to that. Also increasing the compression on my uber heads, and shiny new valves, and... In the meantime all the bits I need to get my bike going are on their way. Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: FIFO on June 05, 2013, 11:31:09 PM Wow not the Typhoon 8)
Suzy J some how i think Perry has got the rough end of the pineapple with that deal :-X And you know this is the start to that very slippery slope, most off us have been on, i,ll just get a scooter that's all i need , that last's 5 minutes till some Knob on his Ducati pulls up beside you and looks down his nose at you, in Disgust. [puke] Or push bike riders are beating you on the hills :'( I think you will be hiding the keys for the Duc very soon, when Perry wises up he's been shafted, ;D if you get it going again. ;D Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Mishka on June 06, 2013, 10:01:13 PM Come on Suzy, what were you thinking [roll], they make the Typhoon in a 125cc [evil] [evil] [evil].
And the matt black one with the military star looks very diesel too boot. Does Perry know??? Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: J5 on June 06, 2013, 10:31:43 PM you know what they say about riding scooters ? [laugh]
Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Betty on June 06, 2013, 10:49:42 PM you know what they say about riding scooters ? [laugh] Not specifically, care to enligten us? Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: suzyj on June 07, 2013, 01:45:28 AM you know what they say about riding scooters ? [laugh] That they're awesome? Actually they are a lot of fun. Slow as a wet week, but very practical. The reason we went for a 50 rather than a bigger bike is because licensing here for 50cc scoots is really easy, and Perry isn't super confident in his abilities. My super-secret plan is that once he's buzzing around and has found some confidence, we'll get him a bigger scoot and he can go back to L plates for a bit. We sold it, and I spent the proceeds on my bike.
Low mount GP style Mivvs for the win. (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fZhfUlPZYY8/UihQ0z2tI5I/AAAAAAAAC78/goadYZruGEc/w1376-h914-no/DSC_3664.JPG) I quite like them. Not obnoxious at all. Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: FIFO on September 05, 2013, 04:29:04 AM Good choice ,thoughI think they would look better swept up a tad ,same angle as the frame ;) (http://srv1.anotherbike.com/mivv/img/alllanguages/D019L2S_a.jpg) Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: suzyj on September 05, 2013, 05:53:28 AM I tried to do that, but the angle of the bend is such that the back end of the left one hits the swingarm in that position. I need connector pipes with a few degrees less bend. Alternatively I could set my headers so the pipes exit at more of an angle...
Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: mattyvas on September 05, 2013, 05:54:57 AM Excellent choice but I'm not sure why they are not obnoxious! ;D
Definitely need to be swept up and have the baffles drilled out of them so you can hear the real sound. I don,t ever remember having mine in and when they over to the M800 I offered the baffles and was laughed at........ So no baffles equals Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: mattyvas on September 05, 2013, 05:56:20 AM Yep from memory Suzy it was all about the header pipe angle.
I massaged mine around to get as much as I could. I bet he is still looking for his scooter in the garage. Did you tell him that it had been stolen..? I will delete this post in the morning when my head clears Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Betty on September 06, 2013, 12:37:01 PM Perry doesn't really know that you bought them, does he [coffee] I bet he is still looking for his scooter in the garage. That does look like a lovely Zorst dearest Suzy but I'd also like to see more angle. I listened to Robs sound video and am extremely jealous cos that's how I'd love mine to sound but alas, you can't have everything. And regarding Perrys dislike for the scooter, I'm kinda glad there . To be honest, I was a little worried as not everyone is suited to two wheels. I could send Paul over to help you "manouvre" the cans as soon as he finishes in my garage of opportunity if you like. Matter of fact, I think it's time for his breakfast so I'd better "zip" Brian W. [coffee] Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Betty on September 06, 2013, 01:54:15 PM It has actually Mark and many thanks for your concern. I used the OEM zorsts as a lever [thumbsup]
Then I rode it down to Dongara, and came back via the wind farm at Walkaway. Now my arse is sore. My rear tyre is starting to square off quite nicely though. Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: goldFiSh on September 29, 2013, 09:05:55 PM Agree bazz, but with baffles in they are very tame... Without, they are definately one of the loudest pipes on the market...
With a little hype around Syd regarding compliance checks, I *cough* put them in for a couple of quick trips, and then resorting to taking them back out... Title: Re: DSS zorst Post by: Bazz21 on September 29, 2013, 09:32:55 PM I *cough* put them in for a couple of quick trips, no one heard or seen anything goldy mums the word [thumbsup] [laugh] |
