Title: S2R1000 battery (Brisbane)
Post by: Paul W on May 25, 2013, 01:28:37 AM
Hey all
I think my battery is getting towards the end of it's life...not really cranking over that well in the mornings.
Being pre-emptive for once in my life, where is a good place to get a replacement battery in Brisbane?
Also, instead of a standard lead acid replacement, is there another good option these days using new technology, which is easy to get delivered or pick up?
I've done a search, but there hasn't been much mail around this topic for a while...
Cheers
Paul

My battery is still the original item - 7 years later...

I'm not sure if it is fortuitous or a jinx but I looked at this thread yesterday and today my battery didn't have enough oomph to start my bike.  [bang]

I replaced the original battery (which lasted some 7 years and 106 000kms) with a borrowed one because it was starting to struggle with starting the bike.  Now the borrowed one (which is 2nd hand) has let me down.

I'm now looking for a new battery so this couldn't have come at a better time (especially as I start a new job tomorrow so I can now afford it!!)  [thumbsup]

Just bought one of these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antigravity-Lithium-Motorcycle-360CCA-12Cell-Lightweight-Battery-OEM-YT12BS12-14-/261113640720?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccb95f710&_uhb=1 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antigravity-Lithium-Motorcycle-360CCA-12Cell-Lightweight-Battery-OEM-YT12BS12-14-/261113640720?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccb95f710&_uhb=1)

because I'm slack and want one that will just slot straight in and I don't have Suzy's phenomenal skills.

2006 S2R10000 here
yes must of been a good year as it lasted  longer than the 695 which was two years newer
I installed Motobatt in both bikes last year lightweight sealed fiberglass impregnated gell battery inexpensive and
highly recommended by my local trusted mechanic .
Comes fully charged and seems to have plenty of grunt.
Last Sunday when starting the bike up in zero degree early morning at the pub on the Oxley out of 11 bikes
several with newer battery's mine was the least sluggish to fire up the bike.
We had to push start an R1 with a near new battery  [thumbsdown]
