Is thinking of selling my s2r and buying
A Harley 48 or victory hammer. What
Are people's thoughts. Has any one heard
Bad reports about the above bikes. Some
Input would be good. I do love my monster.

Well, if you are considering selling then I guess that your not that attached to it really.

I had a Harley too not long ago. They are a very...............hmmmmm............  agricultural machine.

1#   They don't handle   (maybe the 48 is a tad better than my Dyna)
2#   As for stopping, best allow at least double the distance as they are dam near impossible to pull up.

Mine went because I found it bloody boring to ride, my partner Joanne hated the Harley mentality/stigma that went with the bike and ended up refusing to come out   [roll]
Have you actually ridden one yet...?

I have not ride a Harley. I did ride a victory
The Vic was a nice bike to ride, not as good
As the duc. A lot more comfortable though
On long rides. It's just a thought at the moment
Last thing I want to is sell my s2r to cheap.

I do like the look of the 48 & I can imagine it would be a bike that would make up the dream garage although with a 8l tank I am not sure how much I would ride it... Stick with the monster & love life😊

I have several mates with Harleys.  An Iron 883, a Dyna, and another with some other turd.

I mean that literally.  They are turds.  I have ridden them all.  You could go and just buy a Harley at first.
You could maybe even have a Jap bike and then buy a Harley, but going from a Monster to a Harley would
be like drinking expensive champagne all night and then changing to Metho.

If you just want pure comfort, or that "I own a Harley" prestige, then buy a Harley.

If you have any attraction to speed, cornering or just plain handling, don't do it.

Also, if  you like a lot of oil on your garage floor, a Harley would be your best choice.

I sold a large cruiser to buy a 1100 evo. One of my better decisions.

One is transport. The other is everything else, and makes a commute a thrill packed escape from the world.

Back in my 20's I used to ride with one bloke in his late 50's, he used to ride a Bandit, but thought as he was getting older a cruiser might be a better buy.

All I can say is he regretted his decision, sold it and bought a new XJ-900 I think it was.

I've loved every bike I ridden long distance.

This includes riding a TTR-250 from Sydney to Brisbane and back....twice(don't ask) 6 days touring on a '85 GSXR-750 and multiple trips to and from Sydney to Melbourne on various others. I'll add that I had a Ti rod put in my femur at 20. All those trip were done after, the 6 day trip 15 months after having put in.

Even IF a HD was nice to ride ........had brakes that worked and didn't sound as the French say "Orible"
You have to deal with the stigma of looking like a complete wanker in your matching pretend HD biker club regalia
shiny chrome bling stupid German WW2 open face look a like helmet with a skull mask and black wrap around Terminator sunglasses
 and the I look bad and may be a 1% bikie but
in reality am an office worker .

No go look yourself in the bathroom mirror and punch yourself in the face. [laugh]


Oh and did I mention no other motorcycle rider on the road will ever give you another nod
unless he too is a bad boy accountant also going through a mid life crisis .

Apparently you need to trade in 75% of your riding skill as well. Promise to drag your feet along the ground when travelling slower than a fast sprint. Riding with full protective gear is no longer an option.

Oh and all the "performance" bits only job is to increase the efficiency of turning petrol into noise.

Even if you do buy one.....Do not join HOG, I've had more run ins with them than any 1%.

What were Ducati thinking THAT.  ???

They did a survey in the US re Harley riders and accidents.
Found that around 80% of accidents were males over 40.
Main cause was, wait for this........  running up the back of vehicles, brought on by looking at themselves in the shop windows..........this is factual people........

All Ducati owners know you only do this while stopped at lights. For those new to the marque you will find instructions and a link to an instructional video in your owners manual and/or attached to the swing tag of every piece of over-priced clothing in the apparel catalogue and in the glossy brochure contained within the packaging of each over-priced item purchased from the accessories catalogue.

It is included with all the other safety warnings. Generally the worse that could happen is that you are late for your latte catch-up with your fellow Ducatisti.

In my opinion, i'd sell the Monster and go for the Hog   [thumbsup]  Forget about advertising it in the For Sale section here though, its only a front for the OZMO chatroom...... !

A must is a good, snug fitting helmet/lid, spare no expense here please

I just bought my first duke last year, second hand, and have been riding in the same 17 vro leathers I've worn on every other bike I've owned.....Is this something I should address ?

Absolutely you need a set of brand new tricolore leathers with 'Ducati' stitched all over them. Of course they will have pristine, never near the pavement, red knee sliders ... just like mine.

A latte is a type of coffee drink..............   one part expresso to at least 3-5 parts steamed milk......in other words, its a milkier flat white......   [coffee]    

 IMO, its a "Claytons" coffee, a coffee that you have when not really having a coffee. Is only one step above a baby chino.

I know I am relatively new around here but let me help.

I have lost 25kg in the last 2 years and quit smoking less than a year ago.  Coffee is the only
thing I have left that keeps me sane.

You can order coffee from McDonalds, and they will bring you stuff in what looks like a coffee cup, and
smells like coffee, but when you taste it, there is this sensation that an iguana with diahorrea has just
shat in your mouth.  Similar can be achieved from Coffee Club and Gloria Jean, and anything that comes
in a cup that says Merlo.

Yes I like coffee, but with everything else that I have given up, there would be a danger I could become
the next Martin Bryant without it.
