Title: Mountain Rambling. Post by: the_Journeyman on June 04, 2013, 04:44:38 PM Just a quick jaunt out to be sure the bike is happy & check some roads before the Deals Gap trip.
Lots of wildlife today. Before I even got on my ride I found both of these: (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Ride%206-4-13/DSC_0244-1024.jpg) (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Ride%206-4-13/DSC_0261-1024.jpg) Now, on to a few pics I shot. Not many though, just a 100 miler and I forgot the Contour. Abandoned Airfield on NC215. (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn168/the_journeyman/Ride%206-4-13/DSC_0269-1024.jpg) More from same waterfall, just looking down from road. That last picture, I can almost feel the sensation of riding on it: lean left, then right.. then left again ... [Dolph] Title: Re: Mountain Rambling. Post by: ungeheuer on June 05, 2013, 02:04:43 AM Nice one JM [thumbsup]
Sometimes your riding environment is another world from mine, but looks like you went for a ride in my neighbourhood this day coz those pics could've all come from my backyard (except for the giant tortoise). Title: Re: Mountain Rambling. Post by: ducpainter on June 05, 2013, 02:19:47 AM Could be NH too...
except there are no frost heaves. Title: Re: Mountain Rambling. Post by: the_Journeyman on June 05, 2013, 03:27:51 AM Ung - I've heard the Great Smoky Mountains (my area) is very similar to Australia's Blue Mountains area, your comments seem to confirm that.
FYI - for those not familiar with those prehistoric looking turtles, they're quite mean and their beak/jaws can break and even sever a finger. dp - Yea, I don't miss the frost heaves, they sure can mess up a line! JM |
