Title: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first (now overall) impressions Post by: Barney on June 15, 2013, 06:42:17 AM [thumbsup]
Just picked up my monster from the dealer for a 7500, new rear tire, and having the bazzaz zfi i got for christmas installed. thing's been sitting in the garage since then and i figured that was as good a time as any to get it dropped in, so i didn't have to tear the thing down a second time first impression on the ~30 mile ride home is quite good. the thing is much more content to tool around town in 2nd or 3rd, where before it didn't like to be anywhere below 4 grand. it revs much better as well. it doesn't feel like more power, but it's more usable power...That's not to say it was bad before. It's doesn't feel like a new bike, but that's not what I was expecting...it's the same, just better, and it's definitely still a twin. i was initially planning on getting the self mapping piggyback for it, but i'm not sure it'd be worth the money to me. I've no doubt that the there's still room for improvement, but i'm not sure it's worth it to me. Also, i'm not sure what milage is gonna look like yet, but I'm guessing it's [drink] now it's time to take it out and really flog it. I don't quite follow? I was probably even a little harder on it than I normally am too...The thing is running really well, i'm happy with the results. Pulls like a mother all the way from down around 2k to the rev limiter. Title: Re: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first impressions Post by: Johnny5 on June 17, 2013, 10:00:40 AM Good feedback, thanks. So you are running the Bazzazz on top of your stock ECU? Or did you also reflash (Rexxer etc) to remove the O2 sensors before installing the Bazzazz?
Title: Re: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first impressions Post by: Barney on June 17, 2013, 12:57:10 PM Just the stock ecu. Spoke with someone about getting the ecu when I ordered the slip on, and they told me it probably wouldnt make much difference after installing the bazzaz, so I figued id save the money. I don't know if a dp ecu would make much difference but I took it out again last night, and I found myself bouncing off the rev limiter way more than I usually do. I can't tell if it's my imagination, if I'm just ham fisting it cause I'm paying more attention looking for differences, or if it's actually faster, but whatever it is the thing sure is fun to ride now... [evil] [thumbsup]
Milage doesn't seem to be suffering too much. Haven't had the light come on yet and im just under 100 miles on the tank...if I recall correctly, it usually came on at somewhere between 100-110... Title: Re: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first impressions Post by: Johnny5 on June 18, 2013, 05:44:08 AM Very cool. My dealer was trying to talk me into the Bazzazz but I hadn't seen really enough reviews on it with the M1100 EVO. So it gets rid of the annoying stumbling and surging in 1st and second gears? I mean really in my view this bike is perfect except for the fueling down low.
Title: Re: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first impressions Post by: Barney on June 18, 2013, 06:54:28 AM to be honest, I never spent much time down there before I put the bazzaz in, cause it was kinda rough..I had always kept it in the 3500-4k range at the lowest. It still feels like a twin down low now, but you can definitely cruise around at 2k in 2nd, and you can drop it into 6th below 80mph. I need more seat time to really get to know it better - it was about 2 weeks between rides before and after. i'm quite happy with the way it runs now though, and I'd put it in again. power comes on very strong and like I said, it seems to rev smoother than it was before from down low all the way to the rev limiter.
Title: Re: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first (now overall) impressions Post by: Barney on August 01, 2013, 07:01:23 PM not sure if it was just the weather being a little cooler here in nj (it'd been 90+ degrees most days for the past couple of weeks, yesterday was ~78) but I took the moto out for 50-60 miles yesterday, mostly 2 lane twisty country roads, 50-60mph, and the thing was a dream. plenty of smooth power from all the way down low to all the way up top. I dont know if the bazzaz does any learning on the fly after it's installed, but it seems like it's running even better than it did when i got it back last month. i've got about 650-700 miles on it since then...overall, i'm very happy with it. I dont have a whole lot of seat time on more powerful bikes, so it may be ignorance being bliss right now, but practically, I cant see needing or even wanting much more than this on the street.
Title: Re: m1100evo bazzaz zfi first (now overall) impressions Post by: Duc796canada on August 04, 2013, 01:20:25 PM I have the PCV, couldn't get the Bazzaz for my bike :(. I have to agree, it does felt (to me) like a different bike after the install and map for slip-on and filter. So much more ridable now, I had installed a G2 300 cam, I have gone to the 100 Cam which is stock!! I can ride around at 2500-3000 rpm as before it was hucka buck :) There was a school zone I used to have to ride through, and was forced to shift down to first to keep the revs up and still was slipping the clutch. Now...no more, I can ride through in 2nd or even 3rd. with the PCV, it is still a closed loop, but it puts a set fuel addition below 5000 rpm. I know Bazzaz had adjustments below that :(
Mileage(M796), I'm getting 44 MPG or 19 km for every 1 litre!! I have tested this out a few times. by my calculations, I should be able to go 285 km with the 15 litre tank, I have gone 209 km without the fuel light coming on, and still had 4 litres left at the fill up. :) This is with 8400 km on the clock, so broken in...before fully broken in, I could barely get 198 km and the light would come on!! |
