Title: Got my flapper-less mid pipe ready! Post by: SpikeC on June 20, 2013, 06:06:15 PM OK, I got my no flap mid pipe back from the coater and it is time to install it. The only prob is that I'm intimidated by all of the direction changes at the ends of the pipes! How much am I going to have to dismantle this thing to get this pipe in?
It looks like the right side peg mount needs to come off, will I need to remove the front header and replace the gasket? Title: Re: Got my flapper-less mid pipe ready! Post by: ungeheuer on June 20, 2013, 06:17:47 PM I didnt have the stock footpeg hangers so i can't help and/or remember about that.... doubt it though.. maybe.. perhaps. Big help eh.
But... removing the Y midpipe isnt that tricky... lose the cans... loosen the header > midpipe clamps... two bolts up under the seat.... a bit of wriggling and #@$#ing.. and it'll be in your hands... I don't recall needing to loosen the headers at the head, so no new gasket. Just go carefully and you'll be fine. Unless I missed something?.. .. Nah.. think that was about it [thumbsup] Title: Re: Got my flapper-less mid pipe ready! Post by: ungeheuer on June 20, 2013, 06:22:03 PM This any help?
It describes removing the complete (696) exhaust system, but you can pick out the bit you want.... http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=25025.msg461929#msg461929 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=25025.msg461929#msg461929) Title: Re: Got my flapper-less mid pipe ready! The install of the new midpipe is done, with just a bit of body fluid left on the garage floor. I had to raise the rear of the tank a ways to get to the fasteners that secure the top part of the pipe, and I pulled the front header due to the geometry involved. Everything was going ok until I got to the second muffler, and the thing was about an inch and a half from fitting. I thought I would have to put the other pipe back on and started loosening all of the stuff that I had just reinstalled, when all of a sudden the muff aligned itself! It is all snugged up now and ready for a little toot tomorrow. I really wasn't going to do this today butt when I went out to the shop I just loosened a couple of bolts and pretty soon there I was!
