Title: fuel line replacements 1999 750M
Post by: ffbaseball46 on June 26, 2013, 03:27:32 PM
My monster is getting up in years and basically needs a rubber component overhaul.

Fuel lines, cushions for the sprocket carrier ect and so forth.

I had a fuel line break first of june that I could just cut the bad out and reconnect. Got lucky.

So fuel lines first. Anyone replaced them on your bikes and if so did you replace direct OEM from Ducati or just the local NAPA fuel line? This is the older carb version so no need for the inside the tank fuel lines here.

Also most connections are of the band variety not a hose clamp type. How do you remove from the vacuum pump and then what kind of connectors did you use?

Any help would be great since I am basically going blind here.
Thanks for any help.

Regular NAPA flavor will be fine. 5/16" diameter. You should get a manual shutoff to replace the vacuum shutoff while you're at it.

Parts Unlimited sells a Pingle knockoff that works well.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'band variety'. All the connections have a barbed fitting and you can use any type of clamp.

It's a very low pressure system.

I think he means the OEM clamps that you squeeze on with pliers. Can't stand em. Replaced all mine with worm gear hose clamps.

Ahhh...

there's two types.

One is reusable and is pretty slick. Mostly on new bikes for lower pressure use.

The ones on the older bikes were one time.

And yes that is what this unedjumicated hill jack was trying to convey. Thanks. So pull these off with a set of pliers, drink a  [drink]  and never look back. Thanks info and for the help.
