Just off the ferry back in Oslo- fantastic week and a half 8) Unusually cold for July with inches of fresh snow on Stelvio the night before, so we didn't go there. One full day of rain which is also a first. I've posted pictures of many of the places we revisited - see the first post above. Most of the passes we went over: Süsten, Grimsel, Furka, Oberalp, Parpaner, Albula, Ofen, d'Eira, Foscagno, Torre, Tonale, Folgarida, Pellegrino, Giau, Falzarego, Valparola, Pordoi, Sella, Gardena, Campolongo, Tre Croci, Drei Zinnen og Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse Our route: Oslo - Germany by ferry, then Hamburg - Lörrach by train (AutoZug's last year)(need to figure out an alternative to 1,400 miles of Autobahn) Andermatt - Chur - Glorenza - Livigno - Bormio - Madonna de Campiglio - Riva del Garda - Cavalese - Cortina - Lienz - Zell am See - München Gavia (https://i.postimg.cc/MHYBK9Vf/Alper-2016-003.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/m1tkmNdT) Start of the Cavalese Monster Hill, last stage of the Tour de Ski (https://i.postimg.cc/pXqjw1Pg/Alper-2016-004.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/GHT9YK8Q) Valparola, end of Giro d'Italia Monster stage (https://i.postimg.cc/3xNGYCRW/Alper-2016-009.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/mPxkS97G) (https://i.postimg.cc/kgHb466s/Alper-2016-007.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/FYjRCKxk) (https://i.postimg.cc/66Vn0pg6/Alper-2016-008.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/grJxcmG1) Grossglockner in Austria (behind the now non existing glacier) (https://i.postimg.cc/nzb94y1Q/Alper-2016-012.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/DW6zFYH2) (https://i.postimg.cc/FRydDTPC/Alper-2016-013.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/BLvnvBf2) (https://i.postimg.cc/2yCqJnMk/Alper-2016-014.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/sQ0DGG3q) Tre Cime (or Drei Zinnen as the locals prefer German names because they think of themselves as Tirolians rather than Italians) (https://i.postimg.cc/5yJvVhYM/Alper-2016-010.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/Pp6NbFQ6) (https://i.postimg.cc/8CrrrpLS/Alper-2016-011.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/CZSK3VvP) [Dolph] Title: Re: Alps, Dolomites 2013+16 and links to previous years Post by: kopfjäger on July 20, 2016, 11:25:06 AM Awesome [thumbsup]

I think that it would be my last WDW as its beginning to be a long slog for this olde fart, perhaps see you when you visit the Isle of Man... [thumbsup] Geoff... Again, this year, riding through Germany south. "Probably copper grease from a recent tire change" It wasn't and it threatened to ruin my trip completely, but I managed to rescue most of it. After a make the beast with two backsing stubborn rain storm through Germany, most of the first day's 750km. On a Friday in July. On the autobahn. Not boring! I reached Baden-Baden, a spa town on the edge of the famous riding area Schwarzwald. Found my hotel and got served a tender steak and a bottle of red. Poor hotel hair dryer working overtime to dry out my boots and gloves.
