I was looking at old Duc is the wild posts today and saw several pics of S2Rs with a different exhaust mount or configuration than I do..My pipes if you can see in my avatar sort of sweep up at a 45 degree angle. Many pics I have seen look like there are basically 2 90 degree bends that bring the pipes up and over the wheel. I love the SSS (One of the reasons I chose that model) and would like to show the wheel off more. It looks to me like there is simply a add on pipe to mount the cans higher... Is this the case? and if so is that middle section readily available?

it was a different muffler kit.  what you have is quite rare.  yours has the pipes into the muffler welded in?  the other kits had them slipping on, so yours is totally different from memory.

only reference I found to your kit in the 2005 dp catalogue is with homolgated (ie, quiet) mufflers.

They connect to the mid-pipes under the foot peg, like 'all' other exhaust systems.

You'd have to come up with a homemade bracket, between cans and frame, to mount them higher.
The extra plumbing you need is called S-pipes - haven't seen them for sale, but they are basic enough to fabricate for someone who does that sort of thing. As Brad mentions, if the little pipes going into the cans are welded on, you need a solution for that as well...

They are rare, and somewhat popular, so selling them and buying a slip on kit (which includes the S-pipes) is probably an easier solution.

This kit was not including the usual upgraded ECU, so tuning issues should be adressed if not already done.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I don't have the bike here so I can't get a good look at the set up. I do seem to remember something about an ecu tune or chip or something in the documents provided by the PO.
I'll have to check it out in a couple of weeks when I get to the bike. Thanks again, I keep learning  new things every day here!

I have the same set up but for my S2R800.  They are very nice. I should add neither of these came with an ECU. The PO might of done that on their own.

Thanks for the information. I'm having a hard time finding references for the part numbers. I googled them and get to the Ducati OEM site, but it doesn't let me search by part number..any ideas?

The stock S-pipes are available with individual parts numbers, but I seriously doubt they will fit against your cans.

I'm not sure the S-pipes included in the DP slip ons kit fit your cans either - the end outlet on your cans are wider as far as I know and that could mean the inlets are wider too ....

I found a couple pics that might help, it's frustrating not being able to go the bike and check! I think I see what you guys are talking about..it looks like the last six inches or so of the pipe is part of the can, does that make sense?

Looking at the catalog pictures, yes they are welded.

(these cans are not listed for the S2R1000, but that's probably just a small mod challenge)

If it's important to keep these exact cans, you have to do quite a lot of welding/pipe and bracket fabrication.

but honestly those are the BEST looking S2R pipes i've seen

all s2r800, s2r1000 and s4r (996) muffler applications are the same.  it's only the s4rs and the 07 onward s4r with the testa motor that are different.

If that's true, why does Ducati always list them (1000) as not? Header pipe differences? (even if it's just slip ons)
