Title: In-Helmet speaker improvements Post by: Sundog on July 11, 2013, 09:01:55 PM I've had a Scala G4 for a while and have no problem with it functionally but I would love to put some better speakers into my helmet, something with a bit more bass capability. The stock speakers that come with the Scala are very tinny-sounding and don't do music terribly well.
Has anyone found/bought small & flat speakers to go in your helmet and they have reasonable reproduction qualities? With a G4 would be nice but it's doesn't have to be. Any details you can provide about model number, manufacturer would be very helpful. I've just set my phone's music setting to small speakers and put in ear plugs. I can hear enough and with the ear plugs it keeps it sounding decent. Can't listen to the subtle stuff but AC/DC sounds pretty good.

Title: Re: In-Helmet speaker improvements Post by: kuzemko on July 12, 2013, 02:56:05 PM I have the G4 also, and noticed the same thing, but I don't know how much you'll be able to do aside from building a sub-woofer into your helmet. I don't know how much power is being put out to the stock speakers so I don't know what the G4 could handle, but from a pure audio standpoint... The amount of bass it would take to hear clearly would be a lot. Higher frequencies tend to stand out/be louder at closer ranges, but lower frequencies travel further. That's why you can hear the bass from those civics a block away, you just can't hear Lil John screaming "YEAH!".
Not saying you're SOL, there are ways, but if you look for headphones and splice wires to make it happen, look at the magnet size of the speaker driver and see if there is any way to find/measure the power output of the G4 compared to what is required on other speakers. If you find something, let me know. I've just learned to deal with it, and don't want to ruin my G4. Haha. Title: Re: In-Helmet speaker improvements Post by: He Man on July 12, 2013, 06:36:21 PM i have the iasus gpx speakers. if u use an amp, its decent. but really, its all about the wind noise. if u can get that out of ur helmet, it will help tons more than more powerful speakers.
