After failing inspection...pulled the trigger on front and rear PR3s.  I have been going easy on them for the first ~100 miles (with a lot a rain here in New England), but absolutely love the way they turn in and feel.  The bike is 100% more nimble and predictable.  Sure much of this is just new rubber, but generally i am thrilled with how these are feeling.

Couple quick questions:
1. has anyone else on these tires noticed some weird road noise.  Almost sounds like the noise my Mtn Bike makes at 25 - 30 mph on pavement.  I am assuming what i am hearing is just the new tires, not some other issue with the bike.
2. i am just about at 100 miles on them.  should i be worried about getting on it in the corners now.  The intraweb has been giving me mixed messages.  As always i am probably over thinking...

1.  I haven't noticed any strange noises and I've been on these for quite some time.
2.  I'm not sure how much of the tire you use when you corner, but I started to get on it about 500 miles in.  Not by choice, but 500 miles is one week of commuting for me, and I hit the canyons that weekend.  I have about 1cm or so of "chicken strips" on my tire, so that's about how far I go on the streets.

I've been on Road 3s for quite a number of miles now.  Probably just over 18K on the rear and 3K on the fronts.  No, not on one tire.  :P

I have to say that I'm very happy with my choice switching to these since I commute so far every day.  My first rear set lasted me over 17K miles and this is what it looked like the day before I changed it.  For commuting, it could have gone further too, but my fronts were going and I figure I'd change them both out (I was on OEM fronts).  These tires also have a harder compound in the center, so they'll last amazingly long if you're commuting on a straight road.  My commute is ~100 miles a day and on a single freeway going straight.

They do feel different than the sportier factory rubber, but I quickly got used to them.  I even take them on canyon runs about every 2 weeks or so.  I'm not normally that aggressive to begin with, but these tires are amazing.  I was able to keep up with sport riders pretty easily.

All in all, very happy with these.  I will be getting these again when the rears go down.

I just ordered a set of these and am looking forward to trying them out.  It seems like everyone who uses them really likes them.  Hoping they will be a good fit for the Pacific Northwest. 

I've had mine for about 400 miles now and last night (in the rain) they still felt a little slippery...staying off the corners for another couple hundred miles, mostly because it's going to keep raining for at least another week (Sunshine State?? Not in the past month!)

that's likely not the tires, but the roads.
the first rain always brings up the oil in the road

These tires came on the S4R I bought this spring and that was the first thing I noticed. Did get caught in the rain this past weekend and they feel good in the rain.

Not for me.  It has been raining every day almost ALL day for the past 2 weeks.

They should be good in the rain. One of the main improvements of the PR3 compared to the PR2 is the siping.

   I have these and concur that they are noisy compared to the PR2's I replaced them with. I added stainless steel risers at the same time so it's hard to say whether it's the risers or the tires but I turn in much faster now. I've ridden in the wet several times and they feel great for that. about 1500 miles on them and I'm happy but the PR2's I replaced were shot so anything was an improvement.

I'm on my second set of pr3's can't recommend them highly enough wet weather grip which there is a lot of hear in Ireland is so confidence inspiring and I didn't run them in.

I occasionally notice the slight 'truck tire' noise, the siping in the front tire hums a little.
I'm a little over 4K in with lots and lots of rain, some hard riding (ahem well for me) and yes, lots of rain.
The felt every bit as sporty as the Power 2CT out of the box, to me.
We have some shitty roads here which I believe contributes to tire wear (17K mi WHAT??). Wear is OK so far
but how long before the cup or square off, we'll see!

I'll likely buy em again. I commute rain or shine, these provide additional piece of mind.

Not to jack the thread, but is anyone used the PP3? How do they compare to the PR3?

Yes I noticed the same thing about the noise, usually when I slow down coming to a stop. I'm pretty sure it's all the extra X-Sipe siping on the front tire. I had Pilot Powers before the PR3s and noticed the sound of the tires right away. The PR3s are awesome though. I put them on 7 months ago and have about 7k miles on them. I commute every day on them and as all the Floridians know, it rains almost every day in Miami during the summer.

I'm in Miami, where everyone uses turn signals and talks on the phone while driving.

BTW, I tried to listen for the tread noise this morning and didn't notice it at all. I'm probably just used to it or it could just be a combination of road surfaces and mileage on the tires. Oh and I try to keep my tire pressure at 32F/34R.

Good luck with that my friend!!  I'm in Ft. Laud where all the terrible taxi drivers reside and fight with the old people to see who drives the worst.

BTW, I just drove through rain for the first time without ANY confidence problems.  The tire is getting better and better.

Yeah I guess as moto commuters, we take chances everyday. I've been caught in some pretty heavy downpours, (I commute using the 95 Express Lanes), and I have to keep an eye on the speed sometimes because I have so much confidence in the tires.

No doubt the Pilot Road 3's are the way to go if you commute and have to ride in the rain.

I have definitely noticed the noise.  If it were a car it might be an issue, but i have so much else going on (arrows, dry clutch) it just adds to the symphony [evil]
