Completely senseless.  Acquaintance was killed by a left-turner sunday.  I won't claim he was my friend, we didn't agree with each other much, but we did know each other.

Please be careful and watch for left turners.

I try to be ever vigilant for left turning cages but you just never can be too careful.  A guy I work with was hit by an older woman who turned left into him.  Broken ankle, surgery, pins and plates, six months later and he still walks with a bit of a limp at times.  He did buy another Ducati to replace the one written off in the accident.

I may have to spend a couple of years in South Florida.  Pretty sure it will be two years I don't ride much........  Nothing worse than being driven into some lady's garage while you are hanging through her windshield bleeding out.

Its the 1 most common Multi Vehicle motor cycle accident scenario.

I have had this *almost* happen to me multiple times.  If I had not braked/swerved/corrected, I'd have gotten hit in several of those circumstances.  You have to assume the cagers are not looking for you... sometimes you gotta be so paranoid as to ride like they're trying to take you out.  It only takes one slip, one lapse in concentration, one small distraction, and BOOM.

I try to ride through with a blocker if at all possible. If the street has several lanes, I will adjust my speed so I go through with a car on my left. Conversely, never cross an intersection just behind a car, as that may block a left turn drivers view of you. Roll on the throttle and cross with them.

I do the same. Have you ever had cars get a little.. upset.. when you use them as a blocker like that?  I use that also when I'm on the highway (lane sharing or not) and I've seen more than a few people don't like me near them.  Ever notice?

I don't know exactly happened with Chad.  I wish he'd been with someone, in the vain hope 2 headlights would've looked 'bigger.'

A guy I work(ed) with was killed two days ago by a left-turner.  Even more evidence to ride safe and aware.

horrible.  sorry to hear about your coworker.  We've had a rash of it here, I think in the last 2 weeks this is the 3rd left-turn collision with 4 bikes, 3 fatalities.

 Something that I picked up many years ago....... When a car is approaching you, wiggle your handlebars, or if your headlight is frame mounted, wiggle your bike. The lateral movement catches the drivers eye and the chances of them seeing you go up significantly.
 Maybe it is the placebo effect, butt it has worked for me since the 60's.

I usually hit my high beams on and off multiple times like a strobe when Im approaching an intersection.

actually it's not placebo, it's all about motion camouflage.  it's how dragonflys hunt.
