Title: Going 100 miles over the 7500 miles service on a 796?
Post by: sebastienb on August 10, 2013, 09:04:50 AM
Hi guys, will I void my war entry or get in trouble for riding an extra 50-100 miles past my 7.5k service ? Not ready to spend the $1k in doing the service

Your engine will blow up and the shrapnel will castrate you.

When did you change your oil last, and with what? You're probably fine depending on your answer. Kevlar belts are unlikely to unravel on a 2-valve anytime quick. The manufacturer suggests a service life of 10 years, (not sure about the mileage). Those valve clearances need checking for the first time though! What was the delivery date of your bike?

Where do you live and what are you getting for $1,000? I'd hope new Rossos are included in that figure and maybe even a fork oil change?

I wouldn't think twice about going 100 miles past the service interval! It is a lousy 100 miles, I don't think the type of oil put in it or the belts know or care that you are going past that little amount.

$1000 does sound a bit high though. What part of the country are you in?
