Title: The reason OSHA exists
Post by: Monsterlover on July 07, 2008, 06:29:12 AM
I supply a lot of tooling for machine shops in the area.  A couple of my accounts have these FANUC brand robot arms that they program to load and unload machines.

These guys decided to mount a chair and 5pt harness on the end of one  [laugh]

Hilarity ensues.

Oh, and because it's here now and I have to use it. . . bacon smiley!   [bacon] [bacon] [bacon]

There is no way in hell I'd strap myself to that.  I've known too many robots, and too many software developers, to trust myself to an industrial twisting/ripping/smashing arm.  It's so strong that, if it decides to push you through the floor, it will.

That's what I thought.  His head came awfully close to the ground at times.

I'd do it ;D

+1 on that. I worked with some of the first industrial robots in the Nuke industry. Does look like fun though.

I do believe I'd wear full gear though.

Sorry, but I am going to have to report this. I did not see steel toe shoes, safety glasses, or proper hearing protection on the "material" being moved.

agreed give me another 6" and i am in.

it is a great use of company resources, and to think that arm could be making the company money...pshhhh  maybe that's how they fire people.  get them all dizzy and then tell them that they have been replaced by a stationary carnival ride
