Title: How do you detach the monoshock spring & pivot arm from the swingarm? '05 620
Post by: The ModFather on August 21, 2013, 06:36:54 PM
I'm looking to detach the stock Sachs monoshock spring from the swingarm on a 2005 620. Any advice or guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

See the threaded part?  there is a nut at the top that adjusts tension...and removes the spring.

Sorry I should be more clear. I'm not trying to remove the spring itself I'm trying t remove the Swing arm and the shock and pivot rod connect to it so I need to detach them to remove the swingarm. I'm pretty sure I just need to get an metric hex in through the hole on the side of the swing arm and remove the bolt that goes through the swingarm that they attach to before I take the swingarm off. I just want to see if there's anything I should be aware of or if I'm on the right track here.

Remove top bolt, remove bottom bolt, through the hole you noted in the swing arm.  Be aware that the bottom of the dog bone is held on with the same bolt.  Parts will fall out of the dog bone, keep them in order.  You do need to support the rear of the bike in a way that will keep the bike from collapsing on you, not by the swing arm.   This is a good opportunity to check and lube the swing arm bushings, rocker arm and dog bone.

I used 2 jack-stands with a modified support so that the passenger foot rests would go into the tubes and a little extension to support the OEM rearset

something like this, but, actually, where are mines?
