Title: Urgent Fork Question Post by: ChrisK on August 22, 2013, 05:16:10 PM This has to do with the thread I titled Really Tired Forks but I put it here because I have a fork pulled apart and need help.
So tapered springs mean springs that are more tightly coiled toward one end than the other correct? Well no joke, I did the first fork, noting the direction of the taper, and put it back together. Just pulled the second fork apart and the spring was installed opposite of the first fork. Does the tighter end go toward the bottom or top? Thank you for the help though! Title: Re: Urgent Fork Question Post by: brad black on August 22, 2013, 11:31:24 PM tighter end at the top reduces the unsprung weight. that's the only reason I know of.

Just leave them whichever way the one or the other happens to be. Title: Re: Urgent Fork Question Post by: memper on August 24, 2013, 03:46:44 PM ..... but no-one would notice the difference. Just leave them whichever way the one or the other happens to be. You might notice with Marzocchi's.Title: Re: Urgent Fork Question Post by: brad black on August 24, 2013, 11:19:24 PM best thing to do is cut the tight section off and leave it out. then the rate is about right.
