Post by: lizardtopia on August 24, 2013, 01:24:24 PM
Hello Everyone!

This is my Monster 696. So far I have;

added Motodynamic fender eliminator and integrated tail light
Leo Vince GP style slip ons
K&N air filter
removed tank decals in favor of vintage Ducati Wings logo
relocated frame stickers to under the seat
removed reflectors off front forks
white decals on rims
black "Ducati Monster 696" decals on top of white rim decals (did it last night, so not in the pictures)

Looks great! I was looking at motodynamics site for a fender eliminator kit with integrated tail light but couldn't find it. It's the sequential tail light, right? Do you happen to have a part # or link?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard lizardtopia.

I like those slender Leo cans on your bike too  [thumbsup].

That's quite the urban environment you have there.

Thanks! Yes it has the sequential option on the taillight and built in "back off" brake light option as well. I may have not installed properly (I was assisted by ASE mechanic), but we ended up with the supplied bolts being just a little too short, so I had to slightly modify the kit to make it work with the supplied hardware. Just drilled two holes and works perfect. I will post pics later.

Thanks! I took it to downtown Kansas City, Missouri to get these shots.

I think the next mods will be

1100 Rearsets
Custom seat cover
Wrap forks in black vinyl
Powder coat handlebars black
ceramic coat entire exhaust black
Paint Brembo logos on brake calipers white
Power Commander V

Mods I'm undecided on are

1100 SSS Conv
Barracuda belly pan (painted to match stone white)
Different (more aggressive styled) headlight

Well its been almost 3 years so I figured I would update the post. A lot has happened with the bike. It was stolen for a short period. They never got it started, but managed to roll it down a huge hill and hit a giant curb at the bottom damaging the rotors and the wheel. Somehow the forks and front fender were also damaged. The bike was found in the woods nearby with the ignition drilled out.

It was sad :(   ...

Now on to the mods :D
Ducabike clear clutch cover
Ducabike Levers
Ducabike rearsets
Domino Racing throttle/grips
Vortex clipons
Diesel rear seat cover

I also used a grinder to remove the instrument display mount from the headlight and painted it black. It now resides in the radiator cover and has for quite sometime without issue. My state does not require it either. I used a cheap set of metal files to get what was left over smoothed out.

Front blinkers removed. Main reason being with no dash, no indicator to let me know I've left it on. Last thing I need it someone to think I am going left and turn out in front of me. Also not required by my state.

Decent weather is just now arriving, so I promise to get some quality pics soon.

Took 3rd place at the Monster Challenge!

This was after adding clipons, but still mostly stock:

I decided the dash stuck out like a sore thumb so I took a grinder to the mounts and tried some custom aluminum sato racing mounts. Eventually they broke on me... while riding...  >:(
I used dupont accessory paint on the headlight, turned out kind of a matte color, I didn't care for it.

Then I decided to finally take the leap and try and split the wiring harness and relocate the dash to under the radiator cover. My biggest concern was if anything was going to generate enough heat. I have since rode in 90+ temps without any damage to the display.

Before the Diesel seat cover, and Domino racing throttle. Added Ducabike goodies.

Finally got the cables fed in through the top of the headlight, Diesel seat cover installed

I ceramic coated my wife 2014 696 as well as my 2005 S4R and I highly recommend it.

Thanks! Not sure how long that minimal look is going to last though!

I would definitely ride more if I didn't have to worry about getting cook from up high and down below haha. Is there a noticeable change in temps when sitting in traffic?

Definitely a noticeable difference in the heat.

With the flat white tank and black frame, the exhaust 'disappeared' after the ceramic coating.  Looks amazing.
