Title: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: FIFO on August 25, 2013, 11:39:56 PM Well it's that time of year again. :D
And just a friendly reminder this is a family affair, and not a Blood sport [roll] http://www.docnsw.org.au/ (http://www.docnsw.org.au/) (http://files.groupspaces.com/DucatiOwnersClubNSW/files/815451/concours.PNG?view) Sept 2009 Guys and Girls If you click on the 2 attachments you will able to read the guidelines for the judging of the Concours D'Elegance. But Basically if you have a clean bike and you are proud of it please enter it on the day we would love to see as many bikes there as we can. If your bike is tasteful and the judge likes it and it meets the guide lines it has as much chance as anyone else's bike. And Yes Bling is allowed for bikes less than 20 years old so if you have a clutch cover or carbon fitted or various other pieces of bling you will not lose points . note: last year we had a few complaints about the judging of the chain and sprockets areas. [laugh] [laugh] (Dez, Bwian) We do realise that not everyone brings their bikes on a trailer and some actually ride the bike there. But if you take a like bit of effort before the day to degrease your chain and sprockets and then on the day lube the chain as it should be it will only have the normal amount of chain lube mess on the bike. 3 Months of built up road grimme and chain lube will only use you points. It is also a good idea to put a small can of Mr Sheen in your pocket and a soft rag to remove any road grimme you may get on the way there. please if you have any questions please ask and I will try to answer as best as possible Warren Hayes VP D.O.C NSW http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/australia/19286d1251903200-d-o-c-concours-d-elegance-judging-guidelines-judge-1.pdf (http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/australia/19286d1251903200-d-o-c-concours-d-elegance-judging-guidelines-judge-1.pdf) http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/australia/19287d1251903200-d-o-c-concours-d-elegance-judging-guidelines-judge-2.pdf (http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/australia/19287d1251903200-d-o-c-concours-d-elegance-judging-guidelines-judge-2.pdf) (http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/australia/19298d1251926631-d-o-c-concours-d-elegance-judging-guidelines-judge-1.jpg) (http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/australia/19299d1251926631-d-o-c-concours-d-elegance-judging-guidelines-judge-2.jpg) Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Two dogs on August 26, 2013, 12:53:58 AM note: last year we had a few complaints about the judging of the chain and sprockets areas. Hmmmm I wonder who's very nice GT that was then. It looked like Big Al had his new Multi there and his GT doesn't look that new and neat. Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Betty on September 22, 2013, 12:10:40 PM congrats to all the winners [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] tho it looks like a great day for one and all [bow_down] , lots of porn there and shinny shinny ducks might have to come up for one , NOW GO AND GETS SOME BUGGS AND TAR ON THEM BIKES cheers jealous bazz Funnily enough Bazz apparently the only thing the 2V winner was marked down for was bug splatter ... which proves what everybody already knew - Andy was going to win regardless ... and deservedly so. But at least people still entered the 2V category - it was a pretty piss-poor turnout in the 4V category ... but when one of the two entrants was apparently telling people not to bother entering because their bike wasn't clean enough - is it any surprise. Well done Rob and Andy! Nice photos, Rob. Hopefully we can get a better turnout next time ... with more bikes parked on the correct side of the road. Looking at rows of red plastic and the inherent awkwardness of Multis and Diavels is not very inspiring ... we need more Monsters regardless of their perceived level of cleanliness. Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Bazz21 on September 22, 2013, 06:31:22 PM yes it seems even ducati itself has lost intrest with the monster with no 4valves any more pinning all there hope on the multi and diavil

Nice photos, Rob. Thank you Betty :-* it was a pretty piss-poor turnout in the 4V category ... but when one of the two entrants was apparently telling people not to bother entering because their bike wasn't clean enough - is it any surprise. To be fair the only other 4 valve turned up with in minutes of registration ending, and being a senior citizen, it was pointed out the trek to registration tent was at the other end of the display, could only be in vain, pointing out the competition. ;) He did not go away empty handed, in the raffle he won a nice pair of satin Ducati nickers, in your size as well Betty :-* Though i did see him exchange numbers with Bwian :-X ... we need more Monsters regardless of their perceived level of cleanliness. It would be a pleasant change to see a few more 2 valve monsters cleaned to an inch of their life, to put some of those pristine Bevels to shame, after all it is the Concourse D'Elegance :P :-[ ??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concours_d%27Elegance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concours_d%27Elegance) Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Tiger Terrrific on September 23, 2013, 01:58:52 AM Congrats Andy - good to see you and as discussed, bike was awesome as usual - well done !! tiger
Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: FIFO on September 23, 2013, 02:58:19 AM yes it seems even ducati itself has lost intrest with the monster with no 4valves any more pinning all there hope on the multi and diavil Don't hold your breath for too long Bazz ;) http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/07/03/next-generation-ducati-monster-1198-spied-photos/ (http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/07/03/next-generation-ducati-monster-1198-spied-photos/) Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Bazz21 on September 23, 2013, 03:11:28 AM Don't hold your breath for too long Bazz ;) seen that it just looks like another street fighter and if it is a monster it fugly and if it is to be a monster why when have a detuned monster that looks like a street fighter when u can buy a street fighter it probably just me but i like the retro look not ducatiyamsuzukihonda space age look ducati needs to bring back its own styling like they did in 1992 http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/07/03/next-generation-ducati-monster-1198-spied-photos/ (http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/07/03/next-generation-ducati-monster-1198-spied-photos/) Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Andy55 on September 23, 2013, 03:29:11 AM Cheers Tiger. Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Betty on September 23, 2013, 10:14:26 AM It would be a pleasant change to see a few more 2 valve monsters cleaned to an inch of their life, to put some of those pristine Bevels to shame, after all it is the Concourse D'Elegance :P :-[ ??? It is more than just a Concours ... and I wasn't suggesting that the bikes not receive a little bit of attention to make them presentable. For example ... Julie didn't spend that much time cleaning my bike and I thought it looked alright (thank you my dear). Obviously the winners put a lot of effort into their bikes and were deserving winners but, to me, the day is about more than the one person that gets the lump of plastic. Also, you can't rely on a definition of a traditional Concours to encourage/discourage people from entering - this event is not strictly run as a traditional Concours. Imagine what sort of event it would be if modifications were marked down! A more literal interpretation of Concours d' Elegance is ... an elegant display. Now while I can understand why a 4V Monster may not be considered elegant - the base Monster design is quite elegant. So the more we can get on display the better ... the variety we can offer is more than most categories. Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: FIFO on September 23, 2013, 05:29:45 PM It is more than just a Concours [bang] [bang] [bang] Now while I can understand why a 4V Monster may not be considered elegant What about TREV you better duck for cover when Julie reads this [roll] Title: Re: Concours De Elegance 22nd September 2013 Post by: Bazz21 on September 23, 2013, 11:09:56 PM all the concouse events ive seen held give points for the most used while keeping it as clean as possible and to follow a true concourse event would mean every entrant would not be how they were made cause if u want to follow true concorse there better than what was made in every element on ducati that would be every bike would not pass
