Title: Side play on rear sprocket
Post by: catduke on August 31, 2013, 09:45:02 PM
I have a 2007 s2r 800 Monster with some side play on the rear sprocket. It is about an 1/8 on an inch play depending on the position of the rear wheel. In other words the amount of play will vary from 1/8 of an inch to nothing at all when I turn the rear wheel to different positions. Two dealers have divergent remedies for the fix. One says to take off the wheel, grease the hub, and re-torque the nuts on the sprocket. The other dealer says a spacer should be put on to take up the supposed slack. Has anybody out there had any experience with this type of thing? My thanks in advance for any advice on the matter.

Sounds like the Cush jobbies in the sprocket.

Doesn't the Cush have a bit of "normal" play?

An eight of an inch is quite a bit more than a bit.
