Let's get together for a social, chill ride. I'm proposing we meet at 10:00 and ride for a few hours, stop for a long lunch, and ride home.
Meet @ 10:00 (roll at 10:30) -
Starbucks
10116 River Rd
Potomac, MD 20854
Lunch @ 12:30 (possibly closer to 1:00) -
Blue Moon Cafe
200 East High Street
Shepherdstown, WV 25443
The plan is to have everyone back in Potomac around 4:30. Bring some cash because we might take Whites Ferry across the Potomac on the out or back route. I think it's 3 bucks for m/c.
may I make a subtle suggestion of variation...perhaps if we were to head a lil further out towards say Shepardstown, we could then eat at the Blue Moon Cafe with is a very chill place to eat and could lead to a great ride to and fro.

Sounds good to me.
Edit: I am less familiar with the roads around Shepardstown, so could use some recommendations (or maybe you could take over lead).
when coming into Harpers Ferry on 340, there is a kinda goatpath looking road on the left after you pass the gas station on the left that looks like it climbs parallel before disapearing...it is called Chestnut Hill Rd....fun road!....at the end of it, we can make a right on 9 and head towards general area of Shepardstown via 17 or cut back on 340 and take 230, or explore a few smaller roads in the area....whatever the group wants to do.
Harpers Ferry Rd is a good bit of fun, goes all the way up to Sharpsburg, MD and from there 34 takes you into Shepherdstown, WV.

Just a small bump to say I've updated the OP with firmer details.
Thanks, Massimo and Brian, for helping me figure this out.
Looks like a good route. Possibly in.

[THUMBSUP]....I just need to make sure I get my long slow run in that morning very early....which should keep me chilled out in terms of riding hot since my muscles will be probably a lil sore.
well....the startling realization of my rear tire being done has reared its ugly head as the outer layer of carcass has started to show through the next layer in the center....
Shite, looks like Bianca & I (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=46971.msg1201112#msg1201112) might be out for this one.

Yikes! Well, you do have another bike... If you're not in the mood to wrench on Bianca.

It's a chill pace. Just run some duct tape over the bald spots, and short-shift the whole ride. It's a little slippery at first...
what do numbers look like for this ride? Can ride out to for a bit but can't go all the way to Blue Moon [bang]
If I'm hung over then 0.5 riders are showing up.

Count me in.
I'm in for at least part of the ride.
Is this ride a go...... ;D
I'm up for this too. Or am I down with it?
Uh oh. Steve's coming out?

Are you?
Not sure yet, all depends on how much cycling I get in today and/or tomorrow. It would have to be on the SD.

Sounds like a win to me! (Cycle on Sunday! Are you training?)

The moto ride is on Sunday, silly. And no, not training. Just trying to not be fat. ;)
PSA: Check yo tire pressure. I was down ~3 lbs this morning.
If you can't do the ride come on out and have some coffee with us, or meet us at Blue Moon for lunch.

Thanks. I checked and found they were missing ~3 psi. Unfortunately I also noticed my VA safety sticker is expired [bang]. Unless I can find someone who does inspections early Sunday morning, it looks like I'm out. :'(
Do you still have the Monster? Swap stickers? [evil]

No more Monster. I would gladly peel the sticker off my car if I could without destroying it.
[thumbsup]
Good times! [thumbsup]
And home on time. Weird. Best weather ever.
[fingers in ears] LALALALALA!!! The ride sucked, everyone got tickets, it rained the whole time, I didn't miss a thing... :(
The ride was good. Plenty of sun and some decent roads. ;D
wish I coulda made it with you guys....I was spent after my 15 mile run....

Blue Moon was delicious! Thanks for the recommendation.
glad it worked out...did you take the goat path road I recommended also?
Agreed - very good time. Thanks all. Roads were fun, weather was perfect, and the meatloaf sandwich at Blue Moon was tasty. Winning!

Yes, we did.
Although, I got spooked about 1/3 of the way in by a slippery rear tire. Turns out everyone experienced the same thing. Ben leaned over and called me a pussy, and off we went. ;D
Really fun road!
When's the next one? Got my safety inspection sticker renewed this morning. [Dolph]
I might have to head out to WV over the next weekend. Well, assuming I don't spend the entire time out cycling...

It's your turn to organize. We'll show up if we can. Heck, I barely knew how to ride asphalt when I organized
my first group ride (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=37539.0). In hindsight it was a bit naive, but we had fun!

I'm not very good with directions. I once led a group for 3 laps around Reston town center before I finally found the right road to start the ride. Trust me, you don't want me to lead any ride with more than 3 turns. [laugh]

Let me know if you head out to WV or if you're interested in exploring some mountain bike trails out west. Really looking for an excuse to not do some house projects this weekend.
I'm up for the next go around!
Weather forecast is turning to crap this weekend. [thumbsdown]
