Anyone going to do the AMS Trackday on October 6th? I am going to try to make that one and it would be nice to see some of the old folks and meet some of the new ones.

Cresson Motorsport Ranch. I looked on their website for the date, not an email list.

Oh, I found it! http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/Track_Days_s/789.htm (http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/Track_Days_s/789.htm) Thanks :). If I can round up some funds I'm in :).
I need to run a valve check on the yello SS, but other than that it's prepped and ready! [thumbsup]
OK, so.... I removed both of my previous messages from this thread because I was thinking the track day was September 6th [bang] (I know. Don't ask. Maybe my brain is due for its 50,000 mile service...It's a big one so I've been putting it off until I can afford it.)
OCTOBER 6th just might be do-able ;D
I am thinking about this, 75% sure right now :)
Just signed up. It will be the first time out for the KTM... :o

Sweet! I should be there as well! [Dolph] You still want a Ducati shirt from Laguna Seca WSBK races in a few weeks? If so, I will get one and bring it to the track day. What size shirt do you need again?
Thanks,
Swanny
Yeah, a WSBK Duc Tee would be awesome! A medium Men's or Women's large... Or, just whatever they've got [laugh]
See you at the track [thumbsup]
I'm out, doing ECR the 28th instead, enjoy the track! [thumbsup]
Signed up now [Dolph]
Awesome that there will be several folks from the boards out there. Look forward to seeing everyone! [thumbsup]
I'm.............NOT going. Still afraid of Doctors and recovery times after my bum ankle, scared for life.

That sort of thing

I don't why. Can't help myself [roll]

You should come. Probably safer than racing minibikes as there is no need to push for the win at a track day.
Hmm, we could hold the minibike race between sessions, they have a lot of land out there to play in [evil]

Chances of getting a Ducati t-shirt are not looking good. They have zero presence at the races. Every other manufacturer are selling shirts. I will keep an eye out for one tomorrow.
No worries. Thanks, Swanny [beer]

this I can do
Well... we're just days away. Bring the minis [evil]
I'm almost ready, waiting on tires to get mounted, oil change and brake bleed. My mechanic is slow and drinks too much [beer]
I'll be there riding the Yellow SuperSport. [Dolph]
I'm still up in the air about the between-session-entertainment:
Bring Duke? or the GROM..?
???
That's a tough choice, we all love Duke, but everyone will want to try the Grom [evil]
What time is everyone getting out there tomorrow? I am going to shoot for an 8 AM arrival. Are you guys pitting underneath the cover at the end of the garages or out in the parking lot?
Holler if you need me to bring anything. I will bring waters and Powerade Zeros.
Looking forward to everyone blowing by me as I act like a moving chicane.
See you guys tomorrow. [thumbsup]

I will be there 8:30-9. It would be cool if we can all get under the awning.
Well, hell. Woke up feeling like the flu. Back to bed.
Y'all have fun today. And pictures or it didn't happen ;D
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well Lisa. Hope you get to feeling better soon. It was an okay track day. Webspoke and RichD showed up. His Grom is a pretty cool bike!
The first session was cool so it was very slick! If I can feel the bike sliding around, then I can't imagine how it felt for the fast guys.
The second session was action packed. RichD had some adventures and other guy waded up his Panigale and shut the track down for a half hour while an ambulance came to pick him up.
Lunch and then one more session at 2 PM and I headed home.
I think I am going to try out a RideSmart trackday. AMS puts on a great event and are extremely hospitable but my abilities and endurance don't match up well with the schedule. I am typically getting tired after about 20 minutes on the track so I miss out on the last 10 minutes of the sessions. Then you have to wait another hour before going back out. I like the idea of being able to get out on the track 20 minutes every hour with riders of comparable skills (beginner, novice, advanced groups).
Don't know if I will do another trackday before next spring, but I will post up if I decide to.
Swanny
Dang :o I'm glad to hear you at least were able to get some decent track time out there today.
I'm very unhappy to not have had the chance to try out my KTM. I want to get a track day in on it before the end of the year. I'll keep an eye out for other possibilities track day-wise so maybe we can get out there together. Always good to know the people you're on the track with.
Sorry you could not make it. It turned out to be great weather. The Grom was great fun to ride, it does not feel like a mini bike, more like a nice small bike.

For a Texas track day the weather couldn't have been better! [Dolph]
It was great to see some faces I hadn't seen in a long time :)
It's a shame Cher didn't make it. Hope you feel better soon.
This outing has given me motivation to get a set of dedicated track rubber
and a relatively minor opportunity to improve my painting skills.
The guy who was riding the Panigale (who got toted off in a blinky wagon)
came back to the track before the end of the day: 100% no breaks/real injuries! [beer]
I think I'll be back out there on the 27th ...who's coming? [evil]
Thanks for the well wishes.
I would be interested in the Oct 27th Track Day for sure [thumbsup]
And great pix - thanks for posting.
Glad to hear the panigale rider was ok, and you too [thumbsup]. I really liked the Dunlop Q3's I put on the bike for this weekend, great stick when cold, and never got greasy as it warmed up. Good price to at cyclegear.
There were a bunch of 1199's there, a couple of 1199Rs, and at least 4-6 others. Also a very nice RSV4, some 848's and monsters.
I couldn't make it this time. I'll be heading out on the 27th and might be bringing the monster also. I really just want to wring the shit out of it.
Stan,
What are your thoughts on the Streetfighter on the track?
Mark
Overall it was good, but took some muscle and trail braking to get a good turn in, especially on the slow corners. Even though it weighs similar to my 848, it felt heavier overall as far as riding effort, some of that I'm sure is the longer wheelbase and slower steering geometry. The suspension also felt a tad softer, I got more wallowing and pitching it seems. Brakes and engine are great though.
The lower pegs compared to the sbk's made me drag toes a couple of times unless I was on the very balls of my feet on the pegs. That rattled me a bit as I have not had that happen before :o
