Title: Brake pads sintered on not?
Post by: jamie2548 on September 12, 2013, 12:10:23 AM
Needing to change my front pads and was wondering what the difference is and any advantage there is between the sintered and organic pads . I am a weekend rider and the odd tour. No track work. Also any recommendations on brand . There is quite a few cheap ones on ebay which comes with great sceptic thoughts :-\
These are the ones im looking at. MetalGear Brake Pads Front L/R DUCATI 1000 Monster Dark i.e. 2003

Best you ask Rob there Jamie, if it was me i'd say that it's a warranty issue. Make the miserable shit buy them for you plus drive down for free fitting.

depends what you want standard for a controlled feel or intant bite for the sintered i liked the standard for the wet if it was a daily ride i stay with the standed cause the sintered will chew the disk  hope that helps a little cheers bazz

Hmm, what was it my mum used to say? if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all........ so with that in mind i would recommend well known quality brands like SBS, EBC, Ferodo, all good quality pads that shouldn't squeal (use copper grease on the backing plates) and will wear the pad more than the rotor surface.

Sintered pads are excellent for track use, if you're strictly road use, organics will do fine, saving rotor life, reducing dust and lasting well, the trade off is a slightly softer lever feel and they will fade if you give them repeated hard use. The genuine pads are definitely the best option for road use but will cost more than aftermarket brands including aftermarket brembo pads.
