Title: Wired.Com Names Mines Road Top Road of California
Post by: TCK! on July 07, 2008, 01:52:24 PM
Just FYI, the last police free motorcycle road is soon to be flooded with Wired.Com readers:

Entire Article Here (http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/07/ride-the-worlds.html)
Quote
# Mines Road and San Antonio Road between Livermore and San Jose by way of Lick Observatory. This one's popular with local riders, and with good reason - the curves just go on and on for the better part of 70 miles. There's very little traffic and rarely any cops, but since it's farm country, you'll occasionally come across a pickup truck or random cow in the road. NOTE: After this post went up, we received an e-mail from an astronomer - and rider - at Lick who asks that fellow riders restrict their noise and speed within a few miles of the observatory so as not to disturb the astronomers, most of whom sleep during the day.

And TCK! can now completely kiss street riding good bye for the summer.

Next thing you know Esquire Magazine will do an article on Zeitgeist and all the yuppies will show up.

Oh wait...that already happened (http://www.esquire.com/features/best-bars-in-america/ESQ0606BARSrev_107_1).

No mention of cows being decapitated?  No ferocious turkeys?  No kamikaze ground squirrels?  Nothing about the stifling summertime heat?  No rednecks playing banjos? Hrmph...false advertising I say.

The pre-pregnant doging done by the astronomer was a nice touch... [laugh]

I wouldnt worry too much about it. One ride and they wont be back.  Mines is over rated anyway.

Mines is an awesome road.

FOR ME TO POOP ON.

If I lived near it, it'd be pretty cool. And If I happen to find myself up there, I'll go out of my way to ride it. But other than that...

Meh.

Mines needs a human sacrifice to keep the squidlordians at bay! (and now back to the 'where's spidey?' thread).

Seriously, if you know mines it's like a pet rattle snake.  If you don't, we'll see you on a BARF post, yo.

I'd take Marin over the Beast any day!  BUT the roads suck, the people aren't friendly, there are no gas stations and a million  [leo]... yea N Bay sucks for riding.
