Title: Looking for Ducati Fork tube diameters
Post by: Monsterlover on September 20, 2013, 10:38:58 AM
Specifically the diameter of the outer tube that the lower triple clamps.

Or

What's the lower triple size for some Monsters?

Is there a listing somewhere or. . .

I thought all Monsters were 50mm at the top and 54mm at the lower triple unless they have been swapped for something else, and that held true for basically every tube-framed bike except for SBK.  The main external difference is supposed to be in length, and the switch in brake mounting.

Framed SBK is supposed to be 53mm all the way down.

So everything but sbks are 54mm lowers?

the tube at the clamps are 54, but depending on where they are clamped in the triples depends on where a clamp could be placed and the diameter at that point.

ie SBKs go Top 53(clamp)--@51---53(clamp)-----@55 and the bottom
and there is an area of 53 for the triples to allow for moving the forks up and down in the triples.

I think the option of have
54 with 2 sleeve to go down to 52 or
52 with 2 sleeve down to 50

would allow people flexibility for mounting.

Sleeves could work but it would raise the price too much. Its easier and cheaper for me to have another set of programs and fixtures to cut brackets to the right size from the get go.

It sounds like I really need a monster in front of me to measure.

Those don't clamp below the lower triple.

The only way that won't matter is if that area of the fork tube is the same diameter as where the lower triple clamps.

Is that what you're trying to tell me? They're the same size?

Monster 41mm slider forks have quite a long section of 54mm diameter, ~1.5" above the lower triple, and 5-6" below

Monster 43mm slider forks have it sorta opposite, 54mm diameter about 1.5" below and ~4" above, the first inch of which is nice surface finish, upper 3" a bit less smooth and .003" or so smaller diameter.

Accurate diameter of 2.123" / 53.92mm

Actually what I'm trying to say is give your customers options where to mount the lights

I'm sorry, I don't have the ability. To get this going I have to make things that are more cookie cutter than custom. The cost for custom sized clamps exceeds what I could possibly sell them for and I'd loose money.

As it is I, somehow, find a way to come up with ten grand a month to keep three guys with families paid and the bank from taking my house while I go without a paycheck as has been the case for 2-1/2 years.

So, I'm sorry if I can't offer more than one option for you and others. If that's not good enough I don't know what to say other than you're just going to have to live with it.
