Title: Alternator cover gasket
Post by: VLT on September 28, 2013, 03:53:14 PM

I have a leaking gasket on the alternator cover. I see in the Haynes manual the use of a  Ducati puller tool.  Looking for advice on how to get around having the Ducati tool and any other advice on doing the work.  I've found a gasket on the MotoWheels site.   Or would it be better to use Yamabond?

You can use either, but if you add the gasket, which is not used from the factory, you'll have to re-clearance the timing sensor.

I'd just clean things and re-seal with a sealer.

You can make a simple puller with a piece of flat stock, a nut, a bolt, and some longer screws. The nut will need to be welded to the flat stock.
